KTTV in Los Angles produced this show from 1971 to 1978 and it was very popular. Maine had bowling shows as well and they got great ratings.

I just wasted 2-minutes of my life watching this. 
Anyway, while growing-up they used to have a local show called Bowling for Dollars. Not really a huge payout for the prize winners. Of course, these shows were locally produced all over the country.

My Grandmother was on the Bangor Maine Candlepin Bowling Show many years ago. She was really good and won that day. They televised it. Most of the time it was shown on Saturday Afternoon in my area.
