Vikes to play outdoors at home next week

from the Vikes site
We are committed to playing Monday night's game in Minnesota in front of our fans. With Mall of America Field at the Metrodome now unavailable, we have turned our full attention to the University of Minnesota's TCF Bank Stadium. We have been in close contact with the University and the NFL office since last weekend. Preparation of the stadium is fully underway and University officials have told us they will make every reasonable effort to ensure the stadium will be ready for Monday night. The league office is assisting our staff and the University to ensure the stadium is safe for our fans and meets the primary technical requirements for an NFL game. We appreciate the tremendous cooperation of the University of Minnesota and look forward to completing preparations for the game and turning this into a memorable experience for the State of Minnesota and Vikings fans.

I miss the days of Outdoor Football. Since they built that big inflatable toilet, I never liked it. The old Met was awesome for football and baseball. The interesting thing for this game will the Vikes convince the U of M Board of Regents to allow Alchol for the came. At this point they have not allowed it to any event.

Guy who lives part time out in Arizona told me this.

Cardinals moved to Phoenix in 1988. Story at the time was that they would play at ASU "for a few years" while a stadium was being built. A "few" turned into 15 years. ASU, as a public college managing a stadium built mostly by the taxpayers, was in no position to complain, but really did not like sharing. ASU people felt it hurt their program and it was just a bother managing a pro stadium. Just not what they wanted to be doing.

The U of MN stadium was built to be "expandable" upwards of 80K, but was built to be a college stadium in terms of location and road access. He thinks the Gophers will end up sharing, much to their displeasure.

According to Mike & Mike, the allotment of snow piles inside TCF Bank Stadium is tremendous. It's not as simple as bringing in trucks to move the snow either, since they would damage the field. Instead they are hiring a staff of hundreds of people in 4 hour shifts to shovel the snow out of the stadium to get it ready for Monday.

Oh, the predicted low for Monday night at Minnesota? 4°F

That is going to be a real weather shocker for them.

I hope Favre plays. I know this season is a bust and this isn't the way he was supposed to go out, but in some small way I think seeing him play one last time out in the snow, just having a good ol' time would be some sort of saving grace.

exactly. Since we've had somewhere around 30-32" of snow so far this year and at least 2 feet in December the field hasnt been plowed. The news here locally obviously has video of them cleaning it and its just crazy. They're using big front end loaders and bobcats

I'd like to see Farve play again as well, not necessarily this week, but before the season is over.
Maybe he'll wake up Sunday morning, walk outside into the Cold Minnesota air and think he's back in GB !

well as of right now the NFL hasnt approved the game being played at the bank.....obviously they (Vikes) have to get the stadium ready first but the nfl was meeting with the Vikes tomorrow in regards to making sure the stadium will be ready

I wonder if Target Field was an option ... such a great looking stadium!
You'd have the same snow removal problem there, plus the seating capacity is lower than in Gopherville.
