Receiver activation after self install fees

What fees can I expect after doing a self install a eastern arc Dish Network system? Setup fee? access card fee?

to explain how the billing works
So you set it up and activate tomorrow Oct 1 (for ease).....you pay the monthly fee for Oct 1-31. I dont know if the receiver has a DVR fee if you pay that too. Assume you do. My 211k I paid the $40 one time "DVR" fee at setup
About Oct 10th you'll get a bill for Nov 1-30 which would be due on Halloweenie. If you dont pay by then they cut you off til the bill is paid.
Nov 10th the bill comes for Dec 1-31 due Nov 30th...you get the jist

That sounds better. I figured I'd have to pay for a access card but I wasn't expecting $99. One month in advance sounds good.

Is it a new receiver or pre-owned?

When you go into the system info screen what does the smart card # start with? S00 means new card...S19 usually means you're OK (some of the older ones do require a new card)

I don't have one right now. I was going to get a new one. Do they come with the access card?

yes the new receivers have a access card. Some are built onto the motherboard so when you open the card slot you wont see one. But any new receiver will have the smart/access card in it

I guess it depends on what you want programming wise and how much you want to record

I had a 211k which is a HD receiver. You can record 1 program from the satellite and if you hooked up an antenna 1 OTA channel at the same time. You can pay a one time $40 fee to turn it into a DVR. (no monthly DVR fees) You supply the drive. The 211 or 211k the difference is the color

There are dual tuner units.
612 has 2 sat tuner/1 OTA tuner single output (you could record 2 sat programs and 1 OTA program at same time)
622 or 722 has 2 sat tuner/1 OTA tuner dual output (you could watch two shows on 2 different TV's)
722K (note the K) has an option for a OTA tuner that gives you 2 sat 2 OTA tuners...2 outputs
All of these have a $6 per month DVR fee.

Since you installed an Eastern Arc dish you can't use any SD receivers so the 211 would be the minimum

Charleston. I tried to get a EA a while back but for some reason they said I needed to get my locals from 129 which is on the other side of the hillside. EA satellites are clear (not a tree in sight)

My neighbor recently got a EA so I thought I'd get the same with a self install and no 2 year contract.

I still have my original Direct TV receiver that I bought for over $1000 when it first came out. I tend to hold onto receivers for quite a while.

On the receivers with 2 tuners do I need two RG6 cables inside? Or is there a splitter I can use and only need 1 RG6 cable.

There is an item called a separator (not a splitter) that should come with your receiver. You need one coax/receiver all the way from the last switch (in this case inside your 1000.4 EA LNB assembly) to each receiver.

The one thing to remember is on the separator make sure to hook the right side of the splitter to the right input. SO sat 1 on the separator goes to sat 1 input

I've heard of issues if its flipped
