I know that this was answered but I can't find it so here goes.

My external hard drive died on my VIP211 so I went looking for a new one.
I had a real hard time finding a 1 TB external power supply. I could find a LOT
of 2TB drives.
So my question is will a VIP211 talk to a 2TB drive but just use 1TB of space?

Thanks in advance

The limits have not changed; the limit remains at 1TB.

They really aren't that hard to find. They're not a great value, but that's one of the downsides of going cheap on the DVR.

Yes I know that 1TB is the limit but the question is will a 2TB work even though it will only use 1TB.
1TB hard drive are hard to find here in Cincy.
I shopped in Best Buy,HH Greg, Radio Shack before I found one in Staples.
The main problem was the external power supply.

You should be able to find a universal ps just about anywhere, that will work with an external hdd.As to purchasing the hdd and ps together, have you considered ebay,or amazon?

PS,you can also go the external hdd enclosure route.newegg has some pretty good deals on them.

You're all wrong. The 211 now supports up to 2TB drives and has for years already.
