It's great that VOOM are adding channels to their line-up even if it does not please
everyone.

I would love to see BBC AMERICA added as soon as possible.

I've had Voom at my home since Oct 2003 -- its now time to include BBC.

I want to install VOOM at my other home, but will stay with Directv until BBC AMERICA is
included.

Wonder how long we will have to wait for that.

I made it one college basketball season without fox sports south, but
I don't think I can do it again. I love voom but it hurts to not see
my team playing as often as I could have with FSS. :-(

[VOOM] Re: BBC AMERICA

I just joined Voom on Sunday. I love it! I am also a Directv
refugee. Yep BBC America, World Link TV and, especially News World
International, would be great cosmopolitan additions to Voom. It is
great to see the world through the eyes of some of the other
inhabitants for more complete perspectives. Even though I gave up
these stations (with the hope that they will someday join the Voom
lineup), I am still happy to be Vooming!!!

Bbc

Indeed, we need the BBC.

It was rumored that we would have BBC with this update - maybe soon.

Cheers,

Hey, Wayne, glad you are enjoying VOOM. We've got a couple of things
we'd like mostly PPV movie channels but we're with VOOM to stay with
what we have.

Loving HDTV under totally cloudy (yes!) Seattle skies, Gill

[VOOM] Re: BBC AMERICA

Thanks Gill! Glad to be with Voom! Enjoying every minute of Voom.
Snow delayed my installation from the 8th to the 10th of March. I
got a great installer to come out on a Sunday to do the install. I
find the customer service people have been very responsive and fast.
I am already scheduled for an upgrade of my off air antenna since my
current one pulls in only 4 of the Baltimore 6 HD locals (just need
the NBC 11 and the PBS 22 to complete the set) (and I can get those
in HD from the rabbit ears so I'm not worried). I just remembered
that I am also missing Comcast sports net of Baltimore/Washington
area for the Wizards, Orioles and Nationals etc. But still happy to
be Vooming! Hope you get the rain without the fade in Seatle!

Bests,

Wayne

Yes, that's a good one. Call me geeky, but I would also like to see:

- Discovery Wings
- NASA TV
- The Science Channel

Steve

I think discovery wings changed its name to discovery military, and yes we now get that channel as of today.

Hey Steve,

The science channel was also one of the six new channels that were added. Two out of four channels that you wanted is not bad? :)

Pretty cool - if I had NASA TV and the FOX Movie channel, I'd be pretty
well fixed. I know Lifetime and some of the other recent additions
have their audience, but its not me ;)

I'm supposed to be getting a dish upgrade on Monday to help fix my rain
fade issues. I think the thing also just needs to be more accurately
pointed. The original installed just waggled it until something came
in, and called that "good enough".

If that works, I'll be WAY more pleased with Voom than I was with my
local cable. The reception is perfect, and though cable has about 200
more channels, I don't give a whit about them. I also don't care much
about DVR - and I know I'm in the minority there - but stuff that I
care enough about to record, I usually want to put on the shelf, so I
don't care that much about a box that only does time-displaced viewing.
Until there's a DVR that lets me burn the stuff I want to save onto DVD
(which is never, I expect) then its not something I really care about.

[VOOM] Re: BBC AMERICA

Hey Stephen,

They do make DVRs that let you burn DVDs for storage. I just read
about a new one that I'd like to get that seems very easy to use for
about $500. It is also a dvd player so you get both for the same
price. You won't need so much shelf space. The thing is, Voomers are
wishing for a High-Def. dvr, not just a dvr. I imagine an hd dvr that
burns dvd with high def is probably a ways away, but VOOM should be
working on giving us the option of upgrading our stb's to include an
hd dvr at some point.

RE: [VOOM] Re: BBC AMERICA

Unless the broadcast flag rule from the FCC is shot down, burning DVDs on
your DRV will become a thing of the past.

Well, I have to take back a bunch of that happy talk, since I did a
little channel surfing and found that all the new Discovery channels
and the Fox Movie Channel just added are all in the premium tier.
Sheesh - what's the deal with that?? I thought they were rounding out
the basic channel line-up to compete with all the "throw away" channels
like this on local cable, not throwing everything on the premium side.

Having Starz open led me to believe that they got that idea - but maybe
not . . .
