I was wondering if there are any voomers in Austin, Tx. I wanted to
know if you can get FOX via OTA. I called VOOM 45 days ago and was
promised an upgraded Antenna, but so far no one has called. I did
call the company that VOOM gave me a number for to call i think
there name is digital ( I forgot the rest of their name). but they
said they wanted to confirm and I have not heard from since. Problem
is, FOX is my wife's favorite channel.. and she is wanting to remove
VOOM if i can not resolve this issue. I want to keep VOOM- HELP!!!!

James..

Howdy! I'm in Austin too and have the same problem. Our local Fox affiliate is broadcasting at a blazing 800 watts - which means only houses a few miles (if that) away from the tower can receive it. I sent an email but they didn't have any date to up their broadcast power.

This is a good link for HDTV in Austin -

anybody heard anything new on Austin's Fox KTBC? Just wondering if ya'll have figured out a way or if KTBC has increased the power.

[VOOM] Re: Can you get local FOX on OTA in Austin Texas?

You can check antennaweb.org to see if it is broadcasting digital.
Have you given hooking the ota up to the tv and see if that works
better?

[VOOM] Re: Can you get local FOX on OTA in Austin Texas?

KTBC is definitely hard to get. despite VOOM's help with a new
antenna, i can not seem to get it. This is my wife's favorite
channel and she is constantly asking me to cancel VOOM and get
cable. or get both ( that would be expensive). I am hoping some one
will show me how to get KTBC or I would have no choice but to
cancel. I live in circle c and only 9 miles from the KTBC broadcast
antenna. that is sad. otherwise i like voom.

Hey -- good news! I'm also in Austin, about 7 miles from the FOX tower, and I can receive FOX using an OTA antenna I bought from Radio Shack for about $50. (http://www.radioshack.com/product.a..._name=CTLG_003_001_001_000&product_id=15-1872)

The signal is a little weak (audio occasionally cuts out, and video artifacting occurs,) but tonight I'm going to try to COMBINE the OTA signal I'm picking up from the VOOM OTA antenna, with that of my new antenna, by merging the coax cables with coax splitter/joiner. I will try to post the results tomorrow -- I want to watch the Superbowl in HD, dangit!!!

Hope this helps...
