If you are interested I posted on "VOOM Installation" on satelliteguys
our continuing effort to have a 24" upgraded antenna installed.

Yep, still watching HDTV via VOOM under cloudy Seattle skies, Gill

Larger 24" Dish should be the rule not the exception in Rain areas

What Voom does is give everyone a smal dish and hope and pray they won't get rain or bad weather and be smart enought to request a larger one.

You don't need to be too well educated to understand that nothing less than Voom's upgraded 24" dish or larger is the minumum requirement for areas tha get rain and bad weather.

And even with the 24" dish upgrade and a signal of 97% to 99% in dry weather I do not get any Voom DBS Satallite reception in moderate steady rain. My reception goes down to 47% to 49% signal strength and that means No Voom Satatlite reception in the rain even with the 24" Dish.

I love Voom and its HD reception, but if you live in area that gets Rain and Bad Weather concider buying books, dvds and other sources of entertainmnet other than depending on Voom to provide it. :no

Voom ... does not work in the Rain :(

at least for me and others who have repled to my posts.

I live in the Houston, TX area and believe me, we get our share of rain..
and then some!! In fact I was woken up at 3am this morning by a storm that
came thru. I only have an 18" dish and unless it pouring cats and dogs
outside, I rarely lose my satellite reception. Heck, I lose my OTA ABC
station before I lose the satellite!!

I suspect the dish size and rain fade is relative to where you live in the
country and what angle your dish is pointing.
