[VOOM] Horrible Voom Contract Installers can't even get a de-install right

So much for an 8-12 window. They called my wife at 9:30 to say it would be
after 2PM. She goes about her running around and gets home. They call at
4:00 and say they are clear on the other side of town and it will be a few
hours. My wife has to leave at 5pm and cannot stick around. She tells them
we'll have to re-schedule. I call the contractor and raise hell. They tell
me to leave the receiver on the doorstep and it will be picked up. I come
home at 10pm to a receiver sitting right where it was left.

The only saving grace is that the CSR I just bitched out handled it the best
he could. This is absolutely ridiculous.... period. Just send out a box
with a return label like D*/E* would do. Don't force us to miss out on work
and other obligations while your terrible contractors fail to show up.

For historical reference, my installation was about 3 hours behind schedule
and I wasted an entire day off unnecessarily.

[VOOM] Re: Horrible Voom Contract Installers can't even get a de-install right

My Agreement with VOOM CSR was to disconnect this coming Tuesday.
Instead I find the de-installer banging my door at 8 AM TODAY (
Saturday). I explained to him that my de-install is scheduled for
Tuesday.. He said , he was told to de-install today. I did not even
get a phone call from VOOM. he said VOOM groups de-installs to be
done on the same day. I kind of doubt that.

In any case, he said he only wanted to take the reciever not the
dish nor the antenna. I have no problem leaving the antenna but i
asked him to take the dish. In return , he asked me not to mention
that he took the dish along with the reciever to VOOM!!! since VOOM
does not like half de-installs!!! I have no idea what he meant.

he did leave also the cables that came with the receivers. he said
they have plenty of those too. he even mentioned that he did not
need the reciever's remote control.. I gave it to him any ways since
i really have no need for VOOM's remote ( minus the batteries
offcourse).

the de-installer was very friendly though and made sure that i have
my TV connected to the antenna and surprise!!! i get all local
channels through my analog tuner. which made me think, why didn't I
try to connect the antenna to my TV's analog reciever when i had
VOOM. this would have resolved the main reason i disconnected voom.

May be i should call VOOM now and schedule an install...

That last part about the analog channels -- The installer that did
mine yesterday installed 1 extra piece that I wasn't charged for just
so I could still receive analog channels without ZOOM using the same
OTA antenna. I'll try to explain it for those who are interested.....

On the line coming from the Satellite he connected it to a Diplexer
that split the OTA and Satellite feed. Then he routed the OTA feed
into a splitter plugging one end into the Receiver and the other into
my Antenna In on my TV. The satellite feed plugged into the normal
spot. Analog and Digital OTA stations come in great.
