[VOOM] Is the VOOM billing group really this dense?

I contacted VOOM to update my billing credit card after switching banks and
was informed that I can NOT use a visa debit card and must use a normal
credit card. This is news to me since as far as they are concerned there
is no difference between them at all. Their claim is that there are
glitches with debit cards that cause the pre-authorization to show up as a
charge and then people get two charges. If this is the case, it would be
the case with a credit card too. I am absolutely baffled at their ability
to turn what should have been a 10 second phone call into a 15 minute
runaround with no resolution.

Did they only know it was a visa-debit after you told them or did they
figure it out on their own? When I use mine in stores and someone asks I
just say it's a visa card and they process it as such. If you tell someone
it's a visa debit, they seem to have a fit about it for some reason.

Reason unknown to me that is..

He specifically asked, and me not seeing any logical reason to lie about it,
I said yes. I've used a debit card since 1995 and I've never had an issue.
I'm completely baffled.

I have been using a master card check card since i had voom in stalled in may. No double billing or any sort of messed up billing at all.

[VOOM] Re: Is the VOOM billing group really this dense?

There have been customers who have experienced difficulty using debit
cards w/Visa, MC logos, some don't.

No one has been double billed because of using a debit card. What can
happen is the hold and billing over lap for a short period. This can
make it appear as if there has been a double billing.

Rainbow has decided they want stand alone major credit cards. The
CSA's must follow procedure.

If a customer choses to with hold information about the debit card,
and it causes problems for them down the road. Rainbow can not be
held responsible for this choice.

what a load of crap!
then who is responsible?
and what kind of information is being withheld?
all they need is the number
and maybe my cats name and DOB

RE: [VOOM] Re: Is the VOOM billing group really this dense?

I think the appropriate response would be to inform the customer of the risk
that funds may be held for up to 72 hours on the pre-authorization even if
the pending charge comes in also. If the customer accepts that risk let it
be. I know for a fact that my bank's system is intelligent enough to get
beyond that, and that I don't let my balance get so low that it would be an
issue. The current policy left a customer who is completely aware of how
credit cards work (I own 3 businesses) baffled and confused. I can't
imagine if an average Joe called in to setup billing, but then how many
"Average Joe's" are using VOOM so far?

[VOOM] Re: Is the VOOM billing group really this dense?

I've had this pre-authorization issue when I went on a cruise this
past summer. It is true, somewhere there is a glitch that can cause
this to happen and in my case it was a $1200 glitch, ouch.

So they do want to avoid customer dissatisfaction which I can agree
with, but they could atleast be somewhat accomodating to the customer
at the same time. Let the customer use the Debit card as long as
they understand the risk they are taking.
