Cablevision tells Sears that Voom service will continue
Cablevision Systems executives have told the retail giant that a deal has
been reached to save the Voom satellite-TV service. A spokeswoman for Sears,
Roebuck and Co., the largest seller of Voom services, says it has been
assured that Voom will carry on. The Wall Street Journal (subscription

Not all that telling, unfortunately. Could be wishful thinking or just an empty promise.
 
Hey all. After all my DVI issues with my Sammy DLP - it's fixed now and
looks great (after 3 months effort). We need to light candles - or whatever
will work!!!

Jeff. what was the issue ??? I never had a problem using my DVI with
VOOM on my Sammy.

The DVI problem I had with my Sammy hlp-6163w is that components work fine.
The DVI problem is that every couple of minutes the screen will blank out
for a second or two. it does it every two minutes or so and is unusable! I’
ve had Voom send me a different DVI cable - different STB - change
resolutions - update software, etc. I went to best buy and "borrowed" a
Phillips HD OTA and DVD combo with DVI outputs. It worked just fine on my
Sammy. Sammy repairman came out twice and replaced the DVI digital board –
to no avail. I have a second Voom receiver (which is newer than my first
one) that I swapped out when this problem happened thinking it was a
receiver issue – but had the same blinking problem on that STB. Well, just
for giggles I tried it again (after 2 months and Voom had software upgrades
done to it) – wouldn’t you know it that it works fine now. The only
conclusion I can think of that it’s a very peculiar compatibility problem
with the older STB and the Sammy. Maybe those digital boards on the Sammy
were bad – maybe they weren’t.

[VOOM] Re: Voom Lives and DVR thoughts...

Only the 'get it' page is still 'unavailable'.

Good to see the new channels, although I could do without most of them
personally, it's great to have a bit more variety.

In response to some of the other folks and the vapor-dvr, I could
honestly live without a dvr if they would put a firewire port on the
existing box. I know people have discussed that topic into the ground
as well but would sure love to understand the resistance to that.
