I just got around to hooking up my TiVo for SD recording through Voom.
When I scanned through the channels in the programming listing TiVo
is providing for Voom, there are three channels that are not available
through my Voom STB.

321 is listed as NBCDT
593 is WVIT (NBC affiliate in Hartford, CT)
594 is KNSD (NBC affiliate in San Diego, CA)

I'm guessing that Voom is getting ready to release Distant Locals to
those in owned & operated markets (by the way, both WVIT & KNSD are
O&O affiliates).

If Voom is going the same route as the other guys, those of us in the
following markets may be seeing NBC HD through the satellite very soon!

WNBC: NBC4 New York
KNBC: NBC4 Los Angeles
WMAQ: NBC5 Chicago
WCAU: NBC10 Philadelphia
KNTV: NBC3 San Jose/ San Francisco
KXAS: NBC5 Dallas/Fort Worth
WRC: NBC4 Washington
WTVJ: NBC6 Miami
KNSD: NBC7/39 San Diego
WVIT: NBC30 Hartford
WNCN: NBC17 Raleigh
WCMH: NBC4 Columbus
WVTM: NBC13 Birmingham
WJAR: NBC10 Providence

Jarrett

Nope. Those were leftovers from the Olympics, many months ago. They are still in Zap2It guide, etc. Sorry.

VOOM could transmit, over the satellite side, the national feeds which are the important parts of the locals. You'll mostly miss the aging local bimbos on your local news that now have to airbrush their make-up on to hide their wrinkles in high-def.
High def has set off a stampede of over age 35 news prima-donnas to their plastic surgeons.
I don't care about the locals but I do need my Desparate Housewives and Boston Legal.

I don't know about NBC. VOOM's mission was to avoit the expense of
rebroadcasting locals, especially since the bandwidth for HD would make a
lot of transponder capacity a must. SD channels being compressed and
rebroadcast with poor PQ is contrary to VOOM's mission statement I would
think, and that's why they spend the time and money on OTA antenna installs.
OTA HD looks about as good as a TV picture can.
As far as channels missing, Showtime east HD seems to be gone for about a
month+. I have a BUD and that's about when we lost it too, so VOOM must
have been receiving it from the same place.
Outdoor channel is no longer available on C band in analog, but they are
testing HD right now on DVB-MPG format and expect to launch full time in
July. The PQ is excellenet and I suspect that VOOM will try to get this
one.
