[VOOM] New Software ..Last night

A download of 24 new updates occurred at 2:00 AM on my of my STB.
It was the newer box with the latest firmware(the one that scans for
OTA).I have not checked for the differences, yet.
it took 22 min and showed progress on screen.

I own 2 STBs.....My older box did not receive any updates...still
the same.

[VOOM] Software Upgrade

The software upgrade from 5.68 to 6.1 has been a downgrade for me.
Since the upgrade I have been experiencing drastic signal lock
loss on three OTA channels and short lock loss on some SD channels.

Location: Appleton, Wisconsin area.

This is a test period for me with the Voom Satellite service.
If Voom doesn't get their ducks all in a row in three months, I
will be dropping their service.

The only good thing I can say about Voom is that their HDTV
picture is beautiful.

This morning I stopped in at the Voom installers place of business to
check their signal strenghts and compair them to mine.
They did not have the software upgrade installed on their system, and
they new nothing about it.
If the installers are not notified about changes, they can't do their
jobs efficiently.

[VOOM] Re: Software Upgrade

Hi,
This seems to sum up the problem that I am having with 6.10:
"lock loss" on 3 channels with sig strength in the high 90's.
It is obvious to me that the source of the problem is the new
multiple direction mapping. Appears that the antenna power is now
spread out evenly in 3 shorter directions (within the red zone)when it
used to reach the fartherst purple zone with my original 5.68 version
mapped in only one direction. How can that be??? I'm not complaining
at all, some of the new subchannels are awesome. It's more a matter
of interest in figuring out the mechanics.
