Many of my friends and neighbors ask me why I have satellite TV=20
service (Voom) and Cable TV service (Adelphia) at the same time.=20=20
The reason is simple. If your Voom service has a problem and you=20
need a repair person to show up, expect to wait at least a week.=20=20
That's right =96 one week. With cable, expect a repair person
out the next day, and at worst, 2 days.
My Voom service has completely gone out. Satellite signal strength=20
at 68 and satellite power at 28. This is probably due to weather=20
conditions. However, these weather conditions have been in our area=20
for the last 3 days, and they expect the same conditions for the=20
next several days. This condition, light rain and fog, is very=20
common in Northern Idaho. I have a 24" dish, and I was told
that with the 24" dish I should not experience these outages.=20
So, now Voom service is completely out and a service technician is=20
scheduled in a week.
What would happen if I did not have cable? I know it's "just
TV". But try explaining that to your wife and kids who want to
watch their favorite shows. Plus, the wife is questioning why we=20
even have Voom service if you can't watch it when you want to
watch it during the winter months.
Anyway, Voom needs to get their service technicians on-board. If an=20
existing customer has an outage, this should be the number one=20
priority for Voom over and above new installs. Voom should never=20
lose an existing customer due to their lack of service.=20=20
My family really enjoys all the HD programs on Voom, including the=20
exclusive channels. However, the competition is very great against=20
Voom. My cable company offers all the local channels in HD, some HD=20
programming (like INHD, HDNet, Discovery, HDMovies, and some Premium=20
Channels), plus a HD DVR (I love the HD DVR!). So, when your Voom=20
system goes out, I would think Voom would want to send someone out=20
immediately and not have the customer wait a week with no service.
Now, how do I talk the family into dropping Cable TV and going=20
exclusively with Voom service?=20=20
