Voom PQ comparison

Using digital simulcasting, for each analog channel the cable company turns off they gain the ability add 3 exellent quality HD channels, 8 excellent quality SD channels, or a combination of the two in that same 6Mhz slot (assuming 256QAM). SDV will give the cable companies a lot of capacity for both video and broadband services.

I'd argue the average HD consumer had no clue nor cares about HD Lite. Not too mention the odds of having a side by side comparison available to be able to see the differences are nill. Probably why I'm not holding my breathe for increased PQ because by the time the birds are up there and MPEG4 is a reality there are going to be more and more new feeds eating away at the bandwidth.

I'm thinking if MPAA and RIA did go same route as satellite providers with limited bandwidth ie a disk capacity, we will never see DVD or HD/BR DVD and should stick with VCD or SVCD stacking a few per movie. :(
