Please, keep VOOMing. I don't know if it was always there (I don't
think so), but new software downloaded recently includes CC always
on or always off option in system settings. Check if you have
version 5.68.

On another note, Customer Service has always been great for me.
Install was lackluster, but ontime and worked first time.

VOOM ROCKS!!

Yes, I have the latest version. While closed captioning appears
(sometiems) it is not correct, and not working properly. VOOM is
aware of the issues and working on solutions. It just may take more
time than I am willing to spend money on.

I agree customer service responsiveness is top notch.

One of the delays with the "scanning" code push, in fact, is that we're
waiting a bit to see if we can get in a few more fixes from a subsequent
build into this one; CC stuff is one of them. :)

Just give us the push and fix the stuff later. The inability of the STB to tune to ALL TV Frequencies is an FCC violation of Title 47 Sec.15.117 of the FCC rules regarding TV Broadcast Receiver and never should have been released as it is.

The only reason I haven't filed my complaint with the FCC yet is because I keep getting promisses that the software is comming and that my channel map will be changed. I have been told my channel map would be changed on June 9th, then I was told a few days, when that didn't happen I was told a few days again, last week I was told probably by this Thursday. It still hasn't been fixed.

It appears the only way I will get my locals through the STB Is by filing the complaint with the FCC. In 23 days there has been no action. What other option do I have except to take the matter before the FCC. Aparently VOOM doesn't want to listen.

That's bullcrap Bryan and you know it. VOOM is working very hard on making
changes and feature upgrades to the product. The delay is because they don't
want to release a buggy version and have the blacklash people like you would
undoubtably give them. So they're taking more time to get it right and I
praise them for doing so.

Go file your complaint if you honestly feel that will make a difference. If
you believe that then you should probably drop VOOM and go get cable tv
because you don't deserve to be on the leading edge of technology.

portion of a TV broadcast receiver and that are equipped with an antenna
or antenna terminals that can be used for off-the-air reception of TV

This is where your thought process is flawed, the stb CAN pick up all stations, they just aren't mapped for you. Once the software comes out you will be able to map them and pick them up.

I have 2 channels in my guide that I can't even pick up, should I be screaming at Voom to remove them? If they did, then the guys who live close to these 2 very low power stations could not pick them up. So who wins? Just be patient and wait for the software or go buy yourself an OTA stb for crying out loud. :river

Correct me if I'm wrong but the over the air tuner isn't in the STB it is
the module attached to the box correct? So this rule would not apply

Feh. Voom is working on it. Getting the gov't involved only messes
things up.

You are correct but they supply it with the box.

The OTA 8VSB unit by itself isn't capable of adequately receiving
all channels. It must be connected to the STB. And when connected it still is not capable of adequately receiving all channels if you can't tune to a channel that is receivable.

No, no. I asked whether you know any customer who got his/her locals by filing the complain with the FCC.

No, but if one were to complain you'd better bet VOOM would change it really fast to prevent further action and possible fines. A licensee will change it's tune very quickly when the FCC gives them a call. It's not like the Dolans have never circumvented the rules. They have been in trouble numerous times.

why Wilt? You must know how much grief lack of OTA scanning is causing people. Getting that out the door should be your #1 priority.

Oh and it's not like there's a law that says you can have an update once every two months so you have to squeeze everything in at once.

I am with you. How do I file my complaint?

Joseph

Joseph,

PM or E-mail and I'll send you my rough draft and how to send to the FCC. It's not like I am new at FCC filings. I filed a petition against NY-DOT and some of their applications for new stations were dropped. I filed in a case against Calvary Chapel of Twin Falls which is still in discussion. I was in a group that sucessfully petitioned the FCC to open up frequenceis for new broadcast stations.

It is a shame more people don't participate in the porcess.
