Thanks for the info, Stan. We called ExpressVu and were told that we
could not sign up down here in Seattle. Looks like we need to do some
more followup. However, when we checked their 19(?) HD channels we
found 10, I believe, to be east/west feeds of the major networks which
we already receive OTA here south of Seattle.

So, we're still up in the air over whether we will change to any other
service. We didn't have any BV (before VOOM) and survived. However,
will be hard to "survive" w/0 the VOOM exclusives and HBO.

Still enjoying HDTV under overcast Seattle skies, Gill

had to offer and are equally regretful to see a satellite venture fall
off the grid. The demise was predictable, based on the conflicts
within management and the advent of competing services in the
broadcast of HD services. Being in a BrandsMart last week and hearing
from the floor sales rep he was unaware of any pending fate was indeed
bewildering, but also a barometer of the shaky rollout of the service.

dish components will work satisfactorily with realignment, and, that
our receiver would have to replace any other receiver.

residing in AZ, TX, and FL, would remain a limited option. (All other
regions throughout mainland US receive robust signal - you might
preview the signal diagram in our Web Site for familiarization) We say
this because although there is adequate signal from Nimiq-2, which is
the downlink location of the BEV HD programming, a number of
transponders on the companion Nimiq-1 satellite do not reach these
regions. This would mean that the full schedule of HD programming
would be accessible, and some of the analog programming would not be
delivered. The alternative Star Choice system has full signal access
in these regions, but subscribers have told us the BEV selection is
superior in their opinion.

You can't get the service dirtectly from Bell. You have to go through an intermediary. The one that most use is can am satellite (search the web). Although they do offer 19 channels, that is a bit sticky. You have to subscribe to the minimum digital pack to get anything then you can add many of the other offerings, but Discover is in a $5.00 package you need separately, sports are in a $10 sport pack (Canadian HD sports only anyway) and their one (they have two, but you can only get one east or west) HD movie channel is in a movie pack for $5. As best I can tell, you would have to pay $70 Canadian (about $52 US) to get all the HD they offer and then it is only 9 HD channels other than east and west US network feeds.
They also do not offer any HBO, Showtime or Starz HD channels.
I believe the channels are:
CTV (Canadian TV) HD East and West
City TV HD (like a superstation from Toronto)
WGN HD
Discovery HD (separate package for $5.00 with other SD channels required)
Movie Central HD or The Movie Network HD (alot like a single Voom HD original channel) (Separate movie pack with other SD channels required $10, I believe)
Vu HD (HD PPV- six channels- movies, adult and events)
Global TV HD (like a Canadian version of TBS, TNT, etc.)
Two Canadian Sports Channels (sports pack with other SD channels required)
All in all a varied lineup overall, but not as much HD as many cable systems that carry InHD 1 &2, and HDNet and HDMovies, etc.
But their SD lineup is really good if you are tired of the same old US stuff.
