[VOOM] Installation wizard on v726

I can't run the installation wizard on v726. Wanted to re-scan my
OTAs. But every time I select the installation wizard from the
installers menu in system settings, the screen goes blank for about
1/2 second and then it switches to channel 100 and nothing happens!

Anyone else?

Jeff

P.S. I cold re-booted (power cycled) the box. Same results.

Strange indeed, Jeff. Couldn't tell if your "cold reboot" meant you
had pulled the plug from the wall but if you haven't you might try
that. Sometimes calling a CSR helps.

In addition, I suggest you post over on the VOOM forum on
satelliteguys.us if you haven't already as there is a lot more traffic
over there and likely someone else has had the same problem and may
have found a way to fix it.

I have encountered this problem. Exactly the same symptoms as you are describing. The "Dreaded Wizard Trap" ;)

It's not easy to get there, but the only way out is through the Factory Reset.
You can find Factory Reset instructions in my VOOM STB FAQ.

Once the FR is complete, call VOOM and ask them to re-initialize the box (send a "hit"). That should do it. Good luck!

Ilya.

Ilya,

Thanks. But it was pretty easy for me to get there. I have no idea
how I got there. I don't think I've done anything close to unusual.
I re-ran scan OTAs a couple of weeks ago just after getting v726.
Not much else.

Wilt, if you're listening, can you confirm that only a factory reset
will fix this. If so, I may wait until I get confirmation that the
ESB combiner work is complete (or substantially complete anyway)
before doing the reset so I can re-scan again.

What I have been told about the NYC combiner is that the work is
complete and WWOR-DT and WPIX-DT should be up and running within a
week or so. Hopefully, VOOM will map two new channels for us. The
current channel 11-1 needs to be remapped from VHF channel 12 to UHF
channel 33 and channel 9-1 needs to be added as UHF channel 38. I
suppose we can scan these in ourselves, but it maybe VOOM will put
these into our program guide before a scan is required.
