Here is how screwed up TV is in the U.S.

I have Dish....I can get CBS and Fox east coast....apparently their
ratings are so low they don't care if I get it 3 hours early. ABC and
NBC think its bad I don't watch locals at the right time.

My girlfriend can't get HBO or Comedy Central 3 hours early....
but she has Charter and they are probably the worse cable
provider ever (locally they won't provide her with high speed
internet or HD).

My brother has cable and gets HD east and west coast network feeds...
but he lives in Palm Springs (presumably a white cable area?).

I get the bare mimimum HD Dish feeds and I switch the coax over
so infrequently that I have to call customer support to get my
811 reset.

I hope all those local TV stations are making big money off their
free license and their congressional grant of even more free digital spectrum.
Though I suspect they are too stupid to know how to use or sell it.

FCC and Congress should be proud of the system they'd established.
Makes lot of sense doesn't it? If Jobs and Gates had been controlled
by the FCC and Congress, we'd still be using 8080s and there would be
no internet.

You're contradicting yourself here in a major way.

You're complaining because you can't get an ABC or NBC waiver... then saying they're too stupid to know how to use or sell the airwaves they were granted.

The rejected your waiver so you can watch their station with their airtime which they sell to advertisers in the hopes you will buy merchandise from those advertisers.. to keep the station on the air.
Granting you a waiver to watch another station in another time zone means loss of those eyes for local commercials, hence loss of the ability to sell.

If you can get the East Coast Feed, you are eligable to recieve the West Coast Feeds too. If you are approved for a waiver for a network, you can pick from any of the available feeds.
