Just minutes before announcing the winner of the CNET Best of CES award winner it was announced that DISH was disqualified from getting the award due to lawsuit between DISH and CNET's Parent Company CBS.

For the past few days DISH employees were proud to be nominated and were even wearing CNET buttons (provided by CNET) to show their pride.

It is my opinion that DISH probably won the award and CBS stepped in and refused to let CNET give them the award. As DISH was listed up until just a few moments before the award was to be given.

that's hilarious... it's a pretty good sign at how contentious this lawsuit is going to be

The autohop lawsuit? Well this last-minute "disqualification" is pretty pathetic. Surprised they did this openly rather than just ordering CNET to give the award to somebody else. Who was the winner BTW?

Obviously CBS doesn't want to give Dish any publicity over a product they see as a negative impact on their business model. But it's also apparent that the Hopper would have been the best product if CNET hadn't disqualified them. All-in-all, still a win for Dish. They'll get publicity over the disqualification.

From http://ces.cnet.com/2731-34437_1-2034-2.html

The Dish Hopper with Sling was removed from consideration due to active litigation involving our parent company CBS Corp. We will no longer be reviewing products manufactured by companies with which we are in litigation with respect to such product.

I wonder if these will be taken down.

So they gave the big prize to a Windows gaming tablet? That seems so far departed from CE as to be laughable. What in Sam Hill is the market for such a machine?

With their very apparent bias towards Apple, CNET already has lost lots of credibility with me. Since they included them in the nominations while the lawsuit was on-going, then they should have awarded them the prize, as apparently Dish/Echostar won, or this wouldn't have been an issue.
