Watch MKV files on Hopper

Hi,

I've got a Hopper device from Dish and I'm wondering if it's possible to simply put MKV files on the external hard-drive I'm using that's connected to the Hopper (with files from the old DVR - a Vip device, formatted in the EXT filesystem) and watch them through the Dish media manager.

Will this require any special configurations?

Since the first thing the Hopper will do when it sees the new disk will be to format it, there will be no MKV files to see.

If the internal data in the mkv container is compatible with the Hopper, then you can watch it via DLNA across your internal network from a computer or network storage device.
