Weather Nation

.....As far as WeatherNation goes... I am not sure if DISH burned a bridge with them or not by carrying them for a few days then dropping them when they got a new deal with TWC.

I suspect it's more like a radioactive Big Smoking Hole. And I also suspect a suitable exchange of coin of the realm will fill any BSH.

Little known fact (???): Weather Underground is owned by the Weather Channel. They purchased it a while back so it is just a matter of time before it becomes useless as well.

Oh Joy. NOT.

Kill the competition thru purchasing them. Hmmmm. Where have I seen that before?

Amazing that no one questions Charlie about him lying to his subscribers when it comes to the locals on the 8's he promised years ago. Seems he's not getting his feet held to the fire concerning the missing abc/espn hd feeds either.

Ask and you shall receive...here's the pertinent portion of that agreement as posted on DISH's website May 24, 2010:

DISH Network and The Weather Channel Reach Agreement
Includes development of new full-time weather forecasting services
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. and ATLANTA, May 24, 2010 /PRNewswire via COMTEX News Network/ -- DISH Network L.L.C. and The
Weather Channel today announced that they have reached a multi-year agreement for continued distribution of The Weather
Channel on DISH Network's programming platform.
The deal provides for collaboration between both companies in developing state-of-the-art, full-time weather forecasting
services designed specifically for satellite customers, including localized weather programming on DISH Network Ch. 213 (in
addition to The Weather Channel's main feed on Ch. 214), interactive TV applications, as well as new Internet and mobile
services. Deployment of the new services will begin this summer.
"Through this new partnership with The Weather Channel, DISH Network is giving our subscribers exactly what they've asked
for and more. Not only are we developing a unique satellite service that provides localized weather 24/7, but also we'll soon
deliver personalized weather reports via the Android mobile platform and the web," said Dave Shull, senior vice president of
Programming for DISH Network. "This agreement recognizes the importance of cross-platform video delivery, ensuring that our
subscribers will have the most detailed local weather information available at their fingertips anytime, anywhere."
"DISH Network and their customers are extremely important to us, and maintaining and expanding our partnership is a high
priority for our company," said Mike Kelly, CEO and President of The Weather Channel. "DISH Network will now be carrying two
of our channels - The Weather Channel and a customized 24-hour, all-local weather information network - to provide even
better service to their customers. We also look forward to working with DISH Network on other cross-platform and interactive
initiatives, taking advantage of our leadership position in mobile and the Internet."
Additional terms of the deal were not disclosed.

DISH screwed Paul Douglas and "The Weather Cast", now WeatherNation - there's really no other way to describe it.

Thanks for finding this article. I tried with no luck. I don't watch TWC anymore but hate it when a company blatantly lies to their customers like Charlie and Dish did and still do.

I've never been a fan of TWC... nor its forecasts.

I use weather.gov.

And the GR Level * suite of products for radar data, with an Allison House data feed, Iowa State as a backup. Then there are the direct observations of SKYWARN spotters when the weather isn't great...

I feel like I'm covered.

I clearly remember this press release and the "hopes" people got back then about this news. Face it though, it's either not happening or it's near the bottom of both company's priority lists.... This press release isn't a promise that they'll do anything - it's marketing and public relations fluff.

That seems like a promise to me to carry two channels. The second channel issue would be less of an issue if Comcast didn't destroy the purpose for The Weather Channel.
