webOS: What's in the name?

Very few details about webOS' future so far, but what is known sounds interesting

- webOS will be open-sourced
- HP will continue with tablets running webOS
- HP will quit the smartphone business...

It will be interesting to see what happens. Will manufacturers jump on webos to avoid android? Why avoid android? Because they do not want to compete against the Kindle fire sold at/below cost.

And then Kobo or B&N do the same with webOS...:)
It's par for the course: if you want to take advantage of the (open) license, get ready to this treatment.
As a backup plan Samsung has Bada. HTC or Sony would have bought webOS if it wouldn't be so expensive.

webOS might have a prosperous future. But not because of the Kindle Fire effect....
