Well, bought the BD30 today

IMHO, its just sharper, more real. The PS3 always reminded me of a slightly better version of my Samsung BDP1000. PQ seemed a tad soft.

That being said, I would not just go out and spend another $500.

I opted to sell my A2 and PS3($575) and bought this player with the money.

Long story short, it has a better picture than the PS3 IMHO, but not worth spending another $500. Plus it does not have near the features of the ps3 like audio playback off the hdd.

I purchased this player yesterday to avoid any more problems with my BD-P1400 (posted yesterday) and watched Casino Royale and my daughter watched Underdog. The audio was great on both (though the 5.1DD on Royale showed up on my receiver as PLII so I had to use the LPCM track even though it is set to bitstream) and the picture was consistent with the 1400 (better than the Sony S300) with no av problems... so far worth the extra $$$

I watched Deathproof last night, upconversion on the last hour was pretty good.
