What can I expect from dish HD?

The 622 HD-DVR has an OTA Tuner built-in.

It is capable of recording 3 programs at once, one on each of the two satellite tuners, and one on the OTA tuner.

Just connect an OTA antenna to the 622's antenna connector.

what kind of antenna would work best?

bump..

Ordered.. Tech should be out monday between one and five

Anyhoo, what antenna works best for OTA?

An antenna is an antenna. If you are close enough and the terrain is right, you could possibly get away with a simple pair rabbit ears. They work well enough for me but I am not that far away from the towers and on a small hill. And I dont mind fiddling with them when needed... like in the good ol days. It mostly depends on how close the towers you are. If you do not know, go check out antennaweb.org to get more precise info.

But hey, if you think you are close enough to the towers, just get an antenna out of the storeroom. Hook it up. Do a channel scan (either on your TV or your receiver). And see what comes up.

For Digital OTA, it is just the UHF part of the antenna that is needed.

If your OTA signal is marginal, then a strong UHF antenna might make the difference (as found at Radio Shack or similar store).

If you are close, a simple small antenna should work.
