In Edmonton, AB. Can we even get 72.7? I tried looking for 61.5 before and I was never able to find it. I think it's because the elevation is sooo low. Now 72.7 has an elevation very close to 148 and I can get 148 strong with a 24" Dish. Does anyone know what Dish would be needed for 72.7 in edmonton, AB, Canada?

EIRP your area should be something like 46-48 dBm. Something like a 0.75M (30 inch) should have a rock solid signal. Your 24 might work also.

Ok I tried the 24" Dish and I can get all the odd transponders and all of them show signal in green. However after a check switch it won't download the guide so no channels come in. I tried it with a sw21 switch with sat 110 and it only shows channels on 110. I get reception verified on 110 but says error on sat 72 I guess because it only gets the odd transponders but those are the only ones available on this sat.

I'm not sure what the problem is. But it gets signal but can't download the guide and therefore you can't watch anything on sat 72. Maybe forcing a guide download? or maybe after the 3AM guide download.

Is it the receiver maybe? I tried it on both a 510 and a DVR 625. I thought the DVR 625 was able to get MPEG4 image and convert it. I heard Sat 72 is all MPEG4.

Yes the EA is an all MPEG4 service. The 625 won't work. Only the ViP model receivers are mpeg4 capable.

First off your going to need an MPEG4 Receiver ( Not the ones you currently have as i understand it) and second..

the Software Lock dish has right now. It aint a dish problem.. I had the same issue. Basically the Newer sats ( 72, 129) Wont work if your using legacy hardware ( SW Switch and/or Legacy LNBs) unfortunately  I my self wanted 129 instead of 61.5 as i get stonger over all signal + a 40% higher signal on my locals however The receiver only see's odd TP's and says even are missing. Its just a software lock by dish so you need to be running either Dish Pro, or dish pro plus in order for it to see both Odd/Even TPs.

Stupid move on dish's part IMO.

Yeah I guess that throws away the hope of getting 119 channels on a smaller Dish. Oh well at least I know you can get signal from sat 72 on a 24" Dish.

When looking for 72 I never hit 77. That tells me that it does need a bigger Dish or a different LNB. Does anyone know if 61.5 works with legacy equipment? I wonder if I can find it since I found 72, they are close. But 61.5's elevation is very low.

Also are the HD channels still available on 61.5 MPEG2 or MPEG4 now?

I think most of then on 61.5 are now MPEG4 HD.

Why don't you go for 110, 119, & 129? Are you on the wrong side of a mountain?
