The only advantage to owning.
Well, not the only advantage, but pretty close. If you have a room that isn't going to be used but once every couple months or so, you can turn purchased equipment on and off, and only pay while it is on. Leased equipment must stay active or be shipped back. It's a great option for RVers and folks with college kids that come home for the holidays.
 
What do you think the chances are that owned receivers may have a benefit in the future.
I recently did a DIU to a HWS and they converted my owned ViP622 to a leased HWS and I couldn't be much happier. I was a little surprised that they wanted the ViP622 in exchange but I'm done with owning. No more jumping on the protection plan bandwagon when something dies.
