What TV's or streaming devices allow Dish Anywhere to be installed?

I'd like to have Dish Anywhere on the TV in my spare bedroom without having to buy another Joey.
I'd be ok with replacing the Roku based TV in that room with an Android based TV since it's older and could stand to be replaced (32-43" size).
I know some Android based TV's have certain licensing restrictions on what Android apps can be installed so it's not a given that an Android based TV will work if Dish Anywhere can't be dl'd to it.
Would appreciate any feedback on what TV's would work or whether or not an inexpensive firestick would work.

So are you saying if I buy *any* android based TV I'll be able to download it from the Play store?

If your Roku TV has an available HDMI port, a Firestick with DishAnywhere installed should work.

But. and correct me if I'm wrong. But, some android based devices could have licensing to only allow an android app on their platform instead of what is in the real "play store". I've seen it before on something I've owned in the past. What I think I'm hearing is that if an Android based TV has direct access to the Google Play store, then I should be good. Just wanting to be sure if/before I would invest in a replacement TV; although getting a 4k firestick is likely the smartest option.

If you go with the Firestick, I recommend the 4K MAX as the current best choice.

Maybe some super generic no name units...I haven't run across them. If they have access to the Google Play Store, you can download and install Dish Anywhere.

Google has certain requirements the hardware and manufacturer's version of Android loaded onto the hardware must meet in order for them to grant access to the Play Store, pretty much anything commercially available at Best Buy or Target type stores will be fine. If you buy some cheap Android box off ebay or Alibaba all bets are off.

Hisense, TCL, Sony are all fine.

I tried to add it to my Roku and it isn't an option in the app store, but you can stream DISH Anywhere app by connecting to another device using Screen Mirroring on your Roku device. If the Roku TV, not a Roku streamer, has a spare HDMI port you can add the Firestick to thatand it will work.

If it doesn't work out of the box, provided the unit is rootable, edit the build.props file and change the fingerprint line.

Last year, I picked up a $15 or $20 onn. 2K streaming stick (model 100024646) from W-mart and ran Dish Anywhere on it. It's now $15. You have to fork over $20 for the 4K onn. stick (model 28078468) now. I'd assume that one could also install and run DA.

Interesting, will look at it. Can you do me a favor and see if the Tivo app downloads and installs on this device? I'd probably run out and get one if I know that for sure.

I looked through my bag where I have various devices for travel, and I am not seeing the onn unit at this time. Upon further reflection, it might have been the 4K version that I bought. I'll see if I can find it. This might be of interest:

That thread was interesting, might consider the ONN device. Still, if you do have the time, I'd like to know if the Tivo app loads from the play store on ONN. If it does I'd definitely run out and get one.

You almost certainly don’t need a new TV. Firestick (buy the best for future proofing) will do the deed.

And if you DO decide to buy a new TV anyway, I recommend avoiding Hisense.

Interesting I have never heard of that before. I just know that I couldn't add DISH Anywhere to my parents Roku and when I googled they said Roku doesn't support it.

That's correct, Roku TV's do not support DA. The Firestick and other devices do support it though, and when plugged into the Roku TV HDMI slot, the Firestick's OS takes over and the TV becomes little more than a dumb display.
