Just got done with my youtube tv free trial. I'm sold, I thought it worked pretty well. Switching in couple of months cause my bill is going to go from 92.00 to about 140 bucks plus my genie 2 and hr17 is acting weird when you change channels, it pauses for about 1 minute when changing channels. Anybody having this problem?

    I think he means an hs 17 and a client. Regardless, isn't an hs17 a genie 2?

We have lost channels here in s.f. bay area locals. Nexstar networks. I called and they said all they can do is offer a new box with indoor antenna. Which i know will not work here you would need a outdoor antenna. Check your locals and call. Someone mentioned they recieved a 15 dollar discount. Not happy ever since At&t took over.

You get a Loca Channel Connecttor and an indoor antenna. If you need an outdoor antenna that's up to you to insta.ll

Thanks texasbrit but can't put up outdoor antenna here. Just directv taking away channels is a problem.

It was Nexstar taking away the channels, not Directv.

Heh. In a sense I guess. Seems to me they are just a step or two ahead of others in the TV space and have been for a while. First Sling TV Live streaming, then AirTV Player which seems very similar to the new AT&T streaming box in functionality, OTA adapters for the Hopper to help customers either drop locals or just get through inevitable retransmission disputes, not to mention AutoHop, 16-tuner DVRs, etc.

Dish isn't perfect -- they have flaws in the implementation of some of their tech (who doesn't?), but they seem to be ahead of the curve in the idea department, or at least a lot of other companies are, er...emulating their ideas anyway. Whether that will be enough to keep them afloat in the long term is hard to know. I can't say I know a lot of happy DirecTV customers outside this forum these days, but I hope they get better. I personally like having choices.

They can be even further ahead of all curves. But they are behind on one that won’t improve and that is Sat bandwidth

Why can't you put up an outdoor antenna? If you meet the FCC rules your HOA can't stop you

I never said you were a liar. I pointed out that if you met the FCC rules your HOA can't stop you. Have you ever read OTARD??

You made a claim of what i said is not true. What we are talking about is directv taking channels away not getting them back with a antenna. I don't know about you but I am here to help out others in the same hobby that i enjoy. :amen

Just that 99% of HOAs that have covenants barring dishes and OTA antennas are breaking federal law.

Unfortunately, in most cases, nothing gets done about it.
