Which Switch?

Yeah... you have a few options...

Your best would be a 1000.2 Dish since you then don't need an external Switch, and you would be HD ready when you decide to upgrade to HD.... but if you want to use an external switch and just add it to your current Dish setup...

DPP33 Switch - Uses Dish Pro Plus technology so you still only need 1 line to dual tuner receivers.

DPP44 Switch - Same as above but costs more and can handle a 4th Satellite Input.... but is more readily available than a 33 Switch.

DP34 Switch - It will work... but it is more work if you currently have a DPP system.... have to run another line to the 625. (engineers say to not use a DPP LNB with a DP Switch... but it works... any "eventual failure" that may happen I have yet to personally see). Advantage to this setup is cost... 34 switches are very cheap. You really should use a DP Quad or Twin or 2 DP Duals though if you want to be "by the book".

Installing a Dish 1000.2 is not that much harder than a dish 500. People make too big of deal about it. Just make sure the mast is plumb. A dish 1000.2 also allows a wingdish (61.5 usually) to be added and is usually cheaper than a DPP44 switch.

If you are installing a 625 and a 311, the best system to use would be a dish 500 with a DP Plus twin LNB. This will eliminate the need for the Dish 1000.2 system and you would be able to go direct from the LNB to each receiver, using a DPP seperator on the 625. Depending on the market you live in, the 129 satellite may not be to correct satellite for HD. Eventually all local channels will be in HD and if you live in a market where your HD locals will be on 61.5, you will not be receiving them on 129. Hope this helps!
