Quite awhile ago I tried to set up VOD using a router and a game adaptor with no success. Now I have whole home networking which works great. I decided to run a hard line connection to my HR-24, still no success. Looking at the Directv web-site it states that if you have whole home you need to have an installer come out to hook-up VOD. Is this correct?

dirtydat,
You question is exactly what I asked in this thread. Short answer is no. But, that assumes you have the knowledge on how to setup network connections and you have the proper equipment and supplies to terminate the coax connections to D* standards. (They want this to cut down on maintenance calls.) As you have discovered, you cannot make a direct connection to the HR24. Some research will really help you decide whether or not you want to do this yourself.
