Why get non existant local channels?

Why get non existant local channels?
We used to have AT&T UVerse. A couple weeks ago we had Directv put in.
When we go to set to record some programs = it will pick to do it on Channel 2 or Channel 11-1.
We are in DFW area & these are not local stations. It should have picked Channel 4 or Channel 11.
Does it make a difference if I set it to record online or on remote?

what receiver?
The HR34 there is a glitch in the system. It will show the Big4 stations from NY (2,4,5,7) and in some cases OTA stations even if you dont have a AM21 in searches.

Before I got my AM21 I would see that. If I scanned for something on Fox as example it would show the following
Fox 5 from NY
The distant # in the 390's
9 which is my local Fox
9-1 which is if I had a AM21

hopefully they fix that soon
