A friend had Dish out to his place in Maine today to install Dish. He ordered America's Top 200, HD + Platinum, HBO & Showtime and two VIP 612 DVR Solo receivers.

The installer put up the 61.5/110/119 arrangement. He sent me a photo of his dish setup screen, and sure enough, that's what's listed.

He's got a fine view for the Eastern Arc, so I can't fathom why they'd put up this arrangement.

Can/should he complain that he's not getting BBCA (and the others) in HD?

I'm gonna have a long talk with the installer coming to my place this weekend. I can't have a third dish, and I'm expecting to get a 1000.4 dish to replace my other two...

Yes he should complain....

the 77 satellite does not reach maine, and thus the reason why no EA for Maine.

What they can do is swap out the 61.5 dish with a dish 500 for 61.5 and 72.7

When an order is entered into the Dish Network computer they specify what satellite positions are to be installed. They are still specifying 119/110/61.5 for HD in our market and according to our distributor they have no plans to change that in the near future.

I had the tech's do that and it didn't work to well. Picking up 61.5 & 72.7 both from the same Dish 500 doesn't work that well at all. The signals suck.

I have the tech coming out tomorrow and installing the 3rd Dish. Not to happy about this. I might just scream at Charlie on Monday on the Chat.

Would EA dish work with 77 lnb covered with foil or sometihing else?

A retailer I spoke to in Lewiston is still installing EA, but Dish employee told me no EA because of what Scott said.

They won't do EA because of the 77 Satellite. Western Arc or a repoint of 61.5 to 129 because 129 doesn't come in over hear either since it's way to low in the sky.

Maine's only option is a 3 Dish one.

My home was installed today and was put on the EA. I'm counting my blessing. I agree, he should complain!

but then the customer loses the stuff on 77W...some is duplicated on 110 but the audio channels and other video channels are on 119 & 77

I did not know that Maine could not see 77. The whole EA WA Dish is nothing but a big mess. East can't see 129. Extra HD channels are on 72.7 and 129 yet Maine only gets 61.5. EA is only MPEG-4. See where I am going.

Maybe if they put the satellites up higher than they could have one Dish for anyone in the Continental United States.

I believe the retailer said he could cover 77 during ck switch and losing reception notice would go away. Is National PBS on EA?

My son has a 508 in his room, but he moves away in May. I will wait, I do not want 3 dishes on my house.

I get it on 72 ch 249
There is that 72/61.5/110/119 with 77 blocked "Cluster" to consider

I wanted to have the Tech use a 1000.4 Dish for the 61.5 & 72.7 & hook it to my DPP44 Switch where 110/119 also connects to, but he said that the DPP44 Switch or LNB's burn out over time.

According to several Tech in my area 'The 3 Dish solution is the only one".
