This has popped up here and there but I think it deserves its own thread. Given that E* already carries ESPN HD, you'd think it wouldn't be a big deal to arrange to carry ESPN2 HD -- why not throw us HD folks a little bone? Before you say, "who gives, it will mostly be SD crap anyway", I'd like to point out that the Yankees/Red Sox opening day game in NYC will be carried in HD on ESPN2 HD, and they plan to broadcast more baseball throughout the season...

Easy, no conus bandwidth. Even D* is waiting to add this channel until they have more HD programming. There is no reason for ESPN2-HD to exist other than to line D$sney's pockets. What little HD programming they have could/should be shown on their existing HD channel.
