I decided to experiment with BT for hotspot connection between iphone 5 and ipad1. My theory is that since the BT transmitter has to be on all the time anyway, adding another connection won't be that much of a battery hit on both devices. This way I can shut down the wifi. I tested the BT speed and it was not that much slower than wifi for simple e-mail and web page surfing. streaming may be another story but this combo will not be used that often for streaming.
