Will changing your package make you forfeit your promotional pricing?

We had Dish Network for years. If you changed your channel package, you could keep your promotional pricing. I change the package a few times over the 2 year contract (price lock) term.

With DirecTV, if I attempt to change my package online it tells me that I lose my promotional pricing.

Is this normal or just a glitch on the website?

I'd love to downgrade from Ultimate to Entertainment to save some money for a few months.

It's normal but you may be able to get a smaller discount for the different package. You will need to call though as online won't offer it to you.
