Does anyone know if or when Comcast plans on upgrading their old copper lines to fiber-optics like Verizon has done? Just a question I have been wondering about for a while. With Verizon's FIOS network they will be able to carry almost any channel they want to, albeit SD or HD due to the fact that their fiber-optic network will have plenty of bandwidth available.

Based on what I know from a few people I know at comcast they have (at least in the pittsburgh suburban areas) more bandwith to use if FiOS ever makes its debut around here. They have been FO for many years in my area, since around the time when, then TCI, rolled out cable internet.

Verizon FIOS, Are they in North Pinellas County?
