Will getting an HD receiver allow me more channels on a SD dish?

I'm currently setup with a SD dish and SD receiver. I can only hit satellite 119, so I get most channels but not all. If I were to get a HD receiver would it work on a SD dish? Also, would I get more channels if I got an HD receiver?

Certainly not worth what you would need to pay. In Alaska, I believe all you need is 119 and 110. It would be worth upgrading the dish.

With a need for a 6' dish and 110 being invisible to you HD would be a waste of money and HD will not get you Red Zone you still need 110 for that. Do you have a dealer that handles Directv? The 101 satellite should be higher on the horizon maybe you could see it?

Alaska should be fine to get 110, elevation is 20.4 in Juno, a Dish500 (elevation of 21.5) should work as well.

Gary read his older posts on loosing red zone he claims to need a 6ft dish and can't get 110 so he can't get Red Zone.
