I am looking at making a switch from DISH to Cinergy Metronet, a fiber optics TV, phone & internet provider here in Indiana. I will need a wireless router that specifically works with fiber optics. What exactly am I looking for on the box that tells me it's Fiber optics compatible?

Won't CM be providing you with a modem? That is the only point that touches fiber. If the fiber even gets that far. They may use an ONT to take phone, coax & cat 5/6 out to avoid an interior fiber run.

I have FiOS and use their modem/wireless router to feed a 24 port sw & patch panel. I also have an Apple Airport Extreme to extend wireless coverage.

I picked the expensive AE because "it just works" and it works in both the 2.4 and 5 bands simultaneously. Most make you pick a single band. D-Link also has one out that does both bands simultaneously, but it costs even more than the AE.
