from my home i can get 4 CBS, 3 ABC. 4 NBC, a few PBS. plus a few unique foreign language stations.
so most are of no interest to me

I'm pretty sure he's counting the sub channels. KDKA has 3 sub channels? or KDKA + 1 and the CBS affiliate + 1 from Youngstown?
well lets see. I'm not going to list them all but lets say we remove the religious, Spanish and shopping channels I get 25 UNIQUE channels.
Much better than when I lived at the lake house and it was 12 (6 from PBS)
Geez Haller you have a BETTER market than me. If I look at JUST Pittsburgh stations these stations you get (that I would enjoy) that I dont get here in Minneapolis

I get all of them except 2, 17 44 and 53. And it takes Antennas Direct XG91 for UHF and a Winegard YA-1713 for VHF combined into a CM7777 Preamp, and CM UHF only gutted from a CM4228 into a CM7775 Preamp and all that combined into one. I have some antenna farm here.
my OTA antenna is down right now no doubt because of that big wind storm.

cbs from west virginia, might be wheeling. a high school buddy was a engineer at this station and had his name on the credits of the news show. very exciting at the time
i have a rotor and a pretty good antenna in a sweet spot.
but its easiest to just leave the antenna pointed in one direction
when i was 14 i got lots of stations by running some scrap wire in my bedroom. my mom thought it would attract lightning and was ugly so i wasnt allowed to have such a setup in the living room.
still the base programs are all the same

Bob I don't call these different feeds of the same OTA channels. I rescaned today because I had eliminated some unwatched channels. I was surprised I had 86 channels no I don't watch all of them.

Actually I am in the Sherman Denison DMA and have 6 channels from there but through the forgotten MIRACLE of OTA reception I can receive most of the Dallas Stations I may be missing a few Low Power broadcasters..
Do they even offer Welcome Pack any longer? I have it, but on dish website, it shows as "package no longer sold." To get it for $9.99 is a very good deal for someone who watches mostly locals...
I miss ESPN, but otherwise I'm getting the locals in HD (two tuners) plus DVR (and program guide). Throw in Comedy Central, HGTV and a few others, $27 /month including taxes/fees is hard to beat. Supplement with Netflix and occasional ESPN streaming courtesy of relative, and my family is content.
Free previews like this weekend's HBO/Cinemax also provide plenty of DVR material to watch on a rainy day...
