You know what offends me about Voom's programming?

It's not that they're going to add a "gay channel". They can pander to whomever they like. What offends me is they're not sufficiently pandering to ME, your average straight guy. For example, I was watching an Ultra Eye show on Brazil. Guys what do you think of when you hear Brazil? I think of babes and beaches, and adventures in the rain forest. Instead, all I saw was restaurants and some clubs with middle aged people dancing demurely. I mean, WTF? It's like going on some kind of tour for little old church ladies, where they make sure you won't run into anything that might offend your delicate sensibilities.

Now maybe I missed some good stuff in the beginning (I caught the tail end of it), but this is pretty typical of the programming on their exclusives (minus MonstersHD). Pretty staid and boring. I feel like I'm watching PBS and not a commercial network (except PBS has more interesting subjects). There's just an overall lack of energy and pizzazz. Take for example, Travels in Europe with Max Rudy on PBS. A bald middle aged guy giving you a tour of Europe. But he's knowledgable, engaging, and interesting, and you feel like you're really touring the places he shows you and not just making random drops in spots that could be anywhere.

And you know, a little shameless pandering ain't gonna kill you, Voom. YOU'RE TRYING TO MAKE SOME MONEY HERE! Put on stuff like Hdnet's Hotlines or Bikini Destinations. No don't tell me to subscribe to Playboy. I think there's a huge middle ground to cover between staid / boring and explicit porn.

1. only city dwellers because of the obvious OTA locals by antenna
2. rich city dwellers due to gallery, auction, ultra
3. The kids of rich city dwellers with RUSH, rave etc.
4. Rich city dweller transplants from europe who want soccer 24/7
5. rich city dwelling gays - DIvineHD

where are the feeds for us average white men? Thanks for Espnhd but we need some skin and more sports in HD! I got news for them, if they want to grow they need to signup Joe sixpack, he far outnumbers Frasier Crane, and that HD set is now in his price range.

GREAT POINT! :clap Voom seems to have created a strategy that the whole country is just like NYC. None of these channels appeal to regular dudes in places like Iowa and Arizona. It makes you wonder if they know what the rest of the country's like. Some of these executives should take a trip to "That little place between NY and California called America"--Ned Flanders

I would suggest spike tv. I think there is plenty of programming. It's like standing in the middle of the river and dying of thirst(great country song). Also, the divine channel does not prevent you from receiving programming you require.

I'ld be happy with real epics on epics, good patriotic war movies, action/adventure fare, Errol Flynn movies (no comments about that other channel), blood, guts, honor, etc.

Oh and a SciFi/Fantasy themed movie channel wouldn't hurt, and could keep monsters focused on monsters.

Sounds good to me. How about Merrie Melodies, Tom & Jerry, GI Joe and the real Transformers on Animania? Cartoon violence is what makes boys grow up to be "regular" guys. Also Batman and X-Men cartoons circa 1990. If I want to watch He-Man or Thundercats, then I'll have to flip over to DIVINE

Hey ...Im living in NY and those ch's dont interest me....and most NYers arent rich by any means. Try living here. Everyone I know has to have tthree paychecks coming in to survive. Im not saying there isnt posh and nosh people here in NY, but most people are just getting by. We might make alot of money when you compare it to other places...but the cost of living here is killing us slowly. I love NY but I feel sorry for my kids and the kids of others that wont have a pot to piss in for their whole lives. Semi attached homes by me are going for 450,000 - 600,000. Nobody has that kind of cash....we in NY are in debt for the most part. Those ch's dont appeal to us.

Rainbow is an entity based in NYC but their ties go beyond NYC. You could not imagined how vast their network is. Just do a search on the internet and you will find all various links and networks that they are connected to.

We all like to think what will be my ideal channel and what's my preference. That's fine but please do not trash their channels like they are completly trash. Tell me of someone else who is trying to do this. There is no original programming out there that you can go and buy on a store. Most HD programs have to be produced by the entity trying to show the HD programs. There's no HD store to go and buy Bikini Destination. Mark has to paid to shoot in HD this original programming. VOOM has to do the same. It is not cheap to do this. I appreciate every single HD program I see because I know how much it is involved. You might think differently and you have a right to think this way. This is my own opinion.

None of those channels (AMC, IFC, WE, FUSE, 50% of FSN, HBO, or BRAVO are Voom exclusives. I think the arguement is that Voom has created exclusive channels for very small groups but is missing the vast majority of the population. If you can invest in HD skateboarding, sailing, windsurfing, YAWWWWNNNNNNNN. Why not invest in making HD Bikini content? It will bring in more viewers than the artsy rich, the gay channel, extreme bicycle sports or euro soccer. I get the impression that Dolan looked at HDnet, knew hed never get it and created these exclusives to duplicate that content. But the man went overboard on the movies and left out some key elements. A bikini destination type channel and INHD for some HD sports would complete Vooms offerings. I just dont understand how you leave out the basic element of selling anything.. females in skimpy outfits. Just go look at the traffic at your local Hooters
