Dish Network Corp. (DISH) founder Charlie Ergen said he may permanently drop Time Warner Inc.

Look, I don't know whose "fault" it is, but I suspect blaming both parties for the negotiation in public nonsense is pretty safe. When this happened last time with AMC, I got out my trusty spreadsheet, and calculated what it would cost me per year to "buy" each season of my preferred shows from Amazon. If I don't need to watch them as soon as new episode come out, then I might not even have to pay anything, depending on the show. However, even if I do pay for them with Amazon, I found that I would still be paying less per year than my annual cost for my DISH package comes out to. I did these calculations, because the carriage negotiations over the last few years have resulted in more and more public pissing contests and loss of stations for the consumer, with no reduction in fees. When my contract is up next year, I believe in either April or July, I will be saying goodbye to DISH after about 10 or 11 years. I cannot get Direct TV due to the satellite location, and Comcast is my only cable option. Since Comcast pissed me off with their cable service long ago and sent me to DISH in the first place, I am unlikely to try that again. Besides, I like my tech ie. The Hoppers, and I cannot bear to go back to Comcast's software and hardware. So, I will be cutting the cord and relying on my ROKU, along with Amazon, Netflix and Hulu for my entertainment. I still pay Comcast for my internet, because there is no way at all around that in our county. Actually, since Comcast will likely have kittens and throttle me over the streaming of TV, I guess I will have to get their most basic combo package to keep them a little happier. Sigh. I hate monopolies.

Not to mention, DTV and AMC have a pissing match going on right now. So, good luck. Besides, they might offer you distant networks. :deadhorse
In talking with friends at ESPN its also looking likely that ESPN may getting removed at the end of the year. I am hearing they are far apart on a new contract.

I could care less if they put CNN or those other channels back at this point. My only issue is having them drop the bill to cover the loss after my incentives run out that they gave me cause of it all. ESPN is a must have for me and I'm rather happy with everything as of now and finally getting ESPNU in HD :)

Why would you expect prices to drop when you are now enjoying the new ESPN contract and the additional HD channels from that contract? Unless I'm misunderstanding you.

Boy this is not going to be DISH's year. Turner channels, CBS /Showtime and now ESPN?? I bet they lose subs big time when this one goes off the air.

I'm pretty sure that's DirecTV Scott is talking about. Dish just came to a deal with Disney earlier this year for the HD, OTT, SEC Network, Watch ESPN app, etc... He quoted a post in which DTV having a upcoming skirmish with AMC was mentioned. I remember reading DTV and Disney contract expires at years end.

I'm just replying to this in order to emphasize the point even more. THIS IS FOR DIRECTV not Dish.

I figure the more it's posted maybe some will see it. :D
Seeing it is one thing. Reading it carefully seems to be the tricky part.

ESPN going (a la carta) to the internet OTT subcription next year. If directv drop ESPN you can still have ESPN via OTT.
