Even though the '08-'09 NFL Playoffs are still ongoing, the rest of the NFL is looking forward to next year. College players are declaring for the draft and new personnel moves are being finalized by disgruntled owners.

I figure it's about time to start a thread looking forward to the 2009 NFL Draft.

We can chronicle all the big names declaring for the draft here. We can also speculate on where these players will end up as we look forward to the draft in just 101 days from now.

The 2009 NFL Draft is scheduled to take place in Radio City Music Hall in NYC on April 25 and 26, 2009.

See here for complete draft order including pre-draft trades...

Here's a good site that lists all of the underclassmen that have declared so far...

Draft Countdown - Underclassmen

Nice forum, here.

The Nfl really needs to fix the draft order, all teams that made the playoffs should draft after the teams that didn't.

16. San Diego
21. or 22. Philadelphia/Arizona loser
23. Minnesota.

24. New England

Agreed :up:up:up

BTW, welcome to the site. :)

I think it's fair the way they do it now.

Two Key determinations on draft order:

1. Teams are grouped by regular-season record, regardless of playoff status, and sorted in reverse order.

2. No team moves outside its group, except that the winner of [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Bowl_XLIII"]Super Bowl XLIII - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia@@AMEPARAM@@/wiki/File:Super_Bowl_XLIII_logo.svg" class="image" title="Super Bowl XLIII Logo"><img alt="Super Bowl XLIII Logo" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/1/16/Super_Bowl_XLIII_logo.svg/250px-Super_Bowl_XLIII_logo.svg.png"@@AMEPARAM@@en/thumb/1/16/Super_Bowl_XLIII_logo.svg/250px-Super_Bowl_XLIII_logo.svg.png[/ame] selects 32nd and the loser 31st, regardless of their records.

I wouldn't be surprised if the order you saw had alot to do with trades made in the last couple of years.

I wonder if Beanie will be able to stay healthy in the NFL. I don't think I'd be comfortable drafting him earlier than 15.

A lot of early mocks have Beanie going to Cincy with the #4 overall pick.

Also, I've seen mocks with CB, Malcom Jenkins, OSU going to the Browns with the #8 pick.

I would rather they got Moreno if he is still available.

I wonder if Mangini would take another Ohio State player after getting burned last year.

I hope the Lions take either Oher(Mississippi) or Smith(Alabama) with the top pick. Take a LB, maybe Laurinaitis(Ohio State), with the 21st pick. See if you can get Cassel from the Patriots with the 33rd pick.

Over the last four years, Mangini and the Jets have drafted four Ohio State players starting in 2005 with kicker Mike Nugent. The next year with, Mangini at the helm, the Jets selected center Nick Mangold and linebacker Anthony Schlegel. Finally, last year, with only one Buckeye drafted on day one of the draft, Vernon Gholston became a Jet.

I don;t know if I like that...I'd like to see them get a LB.

I am sick of players who say they'll come back, and they don't.

Whatever happened to loyalty in college football?

A few weekd back, I remember McCoy and Donalf Brown saying they'd stay another year.

What a bunch of liars!

OU has a press conference scheduled for an hour from now, where they expect to announce Sam Bradford's intentions to either stay at OU for another year, or to opt for the NFL draft.

A lot of players were expected to come out to try and avoid a rookie slotting system that is expected in the next CBA I believe in addition to the complications that could arise with no salary cap in place.
