Driving the HD DVD Juggernaut.

In the VHS/Beta days, it had a big impact because video porn was not readily available at home. You could purchase a VHS player to rent movies, and also watch porn. Today there are many ways to access porn at home.(Sat, internet, cable, DVD, etc.) I don't think it will have as much of an impact this go around.

Actually, I think the porn effect will be a little more muted this time around as the internet and Satellite/cable delivery of XXX channels reduce the demand as alternative sources are available.

Hpman and I are simply sparring over the pros and cons of our chosen formats..... He points out his horse's specs as do I.....

It's all posturing until late 2007 anyway. After the Christmas season we should have a winner. If not, I predict both begin to die out by late 2008 ...

Yep- I think so too. I doubt we'll have strong indications of a trend until after the first quarter sales reports are in. And whatever trend it is would have to hold up thru the rest of the year.

Sony does not own all of MGM, just enough to secure US distribution rights of video titles.

Yes, which is why I said they were in the driver's seat. I think the percentage is about 30% if memory serves me. I checked; it's 20% of total equity and about 45% of the common stock. Pretty significant.

Best,
