In-line Amp

I need to know what is the approximate maximum distance the LNB (dish) can be from the IRD (receiver) with an IN-LINE AMP installed.

RG6 loses about 12db per 100 feet.

Amplifiers up about 20db, tops, thus adding about 180 feet of length to maintain good signal strength.

I would say 300 feet would be your absolute maximum, but only if the dish has a good signal to begin with. If it gets a lousy signal from the satellites, you'll need it closer.
