NCAA Football 2008-09 Season

BTW, Hitachi, on Friday, you can officially remove the Tech avatar since

1. The avatar bet will be officially over; BTW, before you ask what's up with mine, I lost a bet with mdonnelly- NEVER pick OU to lose in Norman. IMO, you have a better chance of getting Sandra to wear a shirt that says "#1 New York Islanders fan

2. Texas will slaughter the pathetic Aggies (They lost to Baylor and Iowa State- nuff said.)
I knew about your bet. I was not going to mess with you about it. Hey i understand :up

BTW, Hitachi, Texas ain't the only team you like with a big game.

Your Ducks are 8-3 and can play spoiler to Oregon State's Rose Bowl Dreams in the civil War (Though I like you a lot, I want Oregon State to win- I would be SO HAPPY if someone besides USC represents the Left Coast in Pasadena).

Oh, and over/under- 48 points for Texas against the Aggies?

1. Oregon State making the Rose Bowl would be sweet justice for fans like myself who tire of seeing USC in Pasadena year after year- i want to see something DIFFERENT

I'll take USC and the lovely Song Girls.

2. Bob Stoops and the Sooners are like the Houston Cougars; no-class, run-up-the-score, and a QB that's only good because of the players he surrounds himself with

Wow sour grapes. I could have written the exact same thing about a certain team from Lubbock.

3. Texas Tech will likely finish with one-loss and a four-loss ACC team plays in the Orange Bowl- WHERE IS THE JUSTICE?!

That does sort of suck.

4. Cincinnati may be the most remarkable Cinderella story this year in college football

It would only be remarkable if anyone cared.

5. For all the mocking laughter and derision, the "Crapple Cup" was actually a good game

What game were you watching? That game lived up, or should I say down to its billing. Two awful teams who were incapable of doing much of anything. If they had NFL OT rules this one would have ended in a tie like the Eagles and Bengals did.

6. Cal Poly-Wisconsin and Oregon State/Arizona disproved the theory that kicking extra points is the easiest thing in the world

Maybe they should have grabbed a kid from the student body like TT did.

7. I hope Virginia Tech doesn't win the ACC title- of the 4 teams that have a shot, they would probably be the worst representative- little offense (They won 14-3 today) and erratic quarterback play.

What's sad is that one of those TD's was a pick 6.

10. Nebraska/Colorado or LSU/Arkansas- Which of these day-after-Thanksgiving games should I be more interested in?

Neither. Plenty of good games on Sat.

Better root for the Ducks then. Besides, if the Beavers go to Pasadena, the Song Girls will likely still make a BCS game.

You actually said something semi-positive about the Red Raiders!

At least Washington State MADE their clutch kicks, unlike Notre Dame

Cougars kicked a game-tying field goal, OT field goal, and a winning field goal.

Irish, OTOH- three missed field goals!

Wasn't someone arguing with me last week about how Oklahoma doesn't run up the score...? Still transparent. And, Mccoy, my friend, Florida still has to get past my Tide...you know, the only 11-0 team in college football that's from a BCS conference. That team that somehow manages to bumble to a win every week, bless their incompetent football souls. Now we get to hear about Oklahoma and Florida being the two best teams in the history of football, and that they should meet for the title....I can't wait for December 6th.

+1. I am glad we are still being overlooked, even though we are undefeated and ranked number one. Keeps them hungry, and that is dangerous for whichever team we play.

No, bama doesnt have the most overall talent, not by a long shot (even though they are getting there). They simply play solid, well coached football in most phases of the game.

My Week 12 BCS Top 12:

1. Alabama
2. Texas
3. Oklahoma
4. Florida
5. USC
6. Texas Tech
7. Utah
8. Penn State
9. Boise State
10. Ohio State
11. Missouri
12. Georgia

BCS Bowl Projections(if the season ended today):

NCG: Alabama(1) vs. Texas(2)
Fiesta: USC(5) vs.Utah(7)
Sugar: Florida(4) vs. Oklahoma(3)
Rose: Oregon St. vs. Penn St.(8)
Orange: Florida St. vs.Cincinnati

SOL: Texas Tech(6), Boise St, (9), Ohio St. (10), Missouri(11), Georgia(12)

Comments: I have Texas ahead of Oklahoma for one reason only, Texas beat Oklahoma. Depending on how next weeks UT/A&M and OK/Ok. State go could change. Oklahoma will not play in the Fiesta, it would be three years in a row and neither wants each other, so I say Utah ends up in the Fiesta to face USC and Oklahoma gets picked to play in the Sugar to face an SEC foe. The Orange bowl may just have to smile and accept the ACC/Big East champs.

Wait a minute,
Wasn't you the one that posted this type of thing last week or a few weeks ago and had the same list with Ohio State making a bsc game, now with more wins, they don't ???

I'm trying to remember, because I cannot find it to re post,,so if I'm wrong, I'm sorry, but someone had them making it and I remember the format you used ....

OSU1991...I hope and pray that you beat OU. Texas does not deserve to be in the Conference chapionship. If this is based on the current teams, OU number one, Texas Tech number Two and Texas number 3. OU lost to texas 7 weeks ago, it should be based on current teams. Please win OSU!!!!

This is why there should be a playoff. These arguments are silly. Who beat who when, by how much, grass vs astroturf, night game vs day game, was Gameday there, etc. Just settle it on the field. Last one standing gets the axe or the jug or the pig or whatever you get for winning a NC.
anders,
EXCELLENT and to the POINT POST :up

Yes, I have had Ohio State in and out of the BCS. It's boils down to Oregon State, if they lose to Oregon next week USC goes to the Rose Bowl and Ohio State goes likely to the Fiesta. If Oregon State wins they are the Pac-10 Champ and they go to the Rose Bowl and USC will get a BCS at-large bid.

Remember, this list is if the season ended today...we still have two weeks of game that can, and likley will, change things.

That is all. :D

About what I expected in Norman last night.

Tech has had a top notch season though, last night's beating aside.

NC down to 4 teams(Alabama,Florida,Oklahoma,Texas) USC waiting in the wings if anyone stubs their toes.

Still would prefer the abolition of the bowl system and a 8 team playoff. Nowhere in sight, Sadly.

I will say this current system makes for interesting discussion though.

Maybe the BCS Championship Game will be good this season.

Hart, no one's "whining" about running up scores. It's simply classless, and transparent. But that's ok, I know you think Florida's unbeatable because they scored 70 against...drumroll, please.. THE CITADEL!! And I can't recall a single time anyone's been able to run up the score against my team, so it's nothing personal with me. In fact, aren't we undefeated....? And you're right, the other 40 or so other players who dress for games but don't get to play wouldn't really like to get in the game when it's a huge lead in the 2nd half...

Oh no I CAN'T stand the DUCKS!! I like Oregon STATE!! I would love to see the BEAVER'S in the ROSE BOWL!! No there were only two PAC-2 Schools i was thinking about going to before i picked TEXAS!! USC and OREGON STATE!!:up

I would say under. The reason is the A&M, Texas game is still a rivalry i say Texas 45 and A&M 3!

4. Cincinnati may be the most remarkable Cinderella story this year in college football

Well, I care along with 35,000 others attending the game last night (that's all Nippert Stadium will hold). I am a UC alumnus and long time season ticket holder. I was at the game last night against Pittsburgh and haven't seen the place rockin' like that before. Brian Kelly has done some kind of job with four QB's playing this year because of all the injuries. Hopefully he will stick around longer than two seasons, but unlikely given past history at UC. Anyways, might as well enjoy it while we can.

[ame="http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/rankingsindex"]Moved Permanently[/ame]

Here are the latest rankings.

I swear to god, the AP Voters are so Gator-biased. They beat a nobody; at least Oklahoma beat an actual team.

As much as I hate the Sooners, they should be #2- there's a difference in beating Texas Tech and the Citadel.

The coaches have Oklahoma number 2. Texas should be number 2. Oklahoma should be 3, Florida should be 4. It'll be interesting what the BCS rankings are.

Maybe OU is #2 in the coaches' poll because Mike Leach voted for them.

With a 3-way tie in the Big-12 South, all you can do is vote for the team that you think is the better team NOW. If this OU team faced Texas next week, who would you honestly pick to win?

But that's putting the cart before the horse. Tech could still back into the Big-12 Championship game if OU loses to OSU in Stillwater next week.

Hitachi,

how weird do you think it is for the Longhorns to play A&M on Thanksgiving night? They have played on the Friday after Turkey Day for over a decade.

Ok, then, if you think OU would beat Texas today, my argument would be that if Texas had had a week off before playing Tech, and they'd played Tech in Austin, they would have won. Hypotheticals don't work.
