Yankees Sign Teixeira

...I wondr what one single team in all of the majors has the uncanny ability to beat the Yankees year in and year out? Light up the halo, boys!

You got that right. I was a big Kendry Morales fan when he debuted, first MLB game he took one deep, but then after that kind of a disappointment. Hopefully with the position all his he'll step up. Kind of how Kotchman did in the first half of last season.

Arte Moreno is going to have to go out and get somekind of big name now after getting Angel fans spirits up with "Teixeria is our man" speech. If it's not Manny then I hope its Burrell or Abreu. I'd pass on Dunn, reminds me of Rob Deer, good old philosophy of "Swing Hard in case you hit it".

I'll try to explain to your little brain - just one more time how I FEEL. And since I am a Yankee fan, I guess it allows me to do so.

The fact that the team went out and added those 3 free agent players is wonderful in my opinion. It definitely makes the team much better as I see it. I think the Yanks will make the playoffs, and have an excellent chance to make it to the ALCS.

Now let's get to the reality of professional baseball. In a 7 game series ANY TEAM can win - it is never automatic, it is never handed to you by the other team. I will be disappointed if we don't make it to the ALCS - but to win it all you need more than just the best names on a lineup card. Even the WORST teams (probably like those you coach) win games all the time.

Now if it disturbs you so very much that at least this Yankee fan knows that no win is automatic, and winning the World Series is not automatic, that's fine - it won't be the first time (and I am sure not the last time) that I ignore you.

AH yes...."my little brain" ....LMAO..!! WOW, an attempt to flame by a MOD no less....LOL!! AND insulting a bunch of kids that have nothing to do with this conversation....my oh my, lame as hell and childish, but I will give you an "c" for effort.;)

There IS a difference what is EXPECTED and what is hoped. MOST Yankee fans EXPECT to win the World Series now because they have the best players. NO ONE AT ANYONE POINT said they were ASSURED to win...and the Yankee fans knows this also....hence the last few years!;)

...again, BIG difference between EXPECT to win and ASSURED of winning....

...but I will refrain from insulting/flaming you and any children in your life...;)

Well the Redsox with a depleted injuried lineup almost made the World Series so we are in good shape, maybe a pitcher, and a backup outfielder is all they need.
And an everyday catcher.

I would think that Dunn is a fit salarywise. Are there any Dunn rumblings in the Boston media?

Of course, it is just a matter of time before Lester, Ellsbury, Papelbon, Pedroia, the left handed reliever whose name escapes me (Okajima?) and even Buckholtz have to be paid the market rate for their services, and that means all of a sudden the payroll goes up by $60 million a year or so for the same lineup.

What children are you talking about? When were children insulted?

Do as you please. For the record, I do NOT moderate the sports forum, I am a poster here and no more.

And as I see it, you have been continuously flaming every Yankee fan on this board. You place everyone as having the same opinion, same expectations, same everything. Hell, not every Yankee fan was happy with each of these signings for various reasons - and I assure you we don't all have the same ideas for what is needed, if anything to complete the roster for 2009.

That all being said, I am again done arguing this with you, you overlook your own put downs of the fans of the Yankees (like we do the deals and decide the salaries). I don't think you really make any sense at all - even with all of your ranting and whining.

I used to HATE yankee fans and always felt a kindred spirit toward Boston fans....until Boston started winning and their fans started coming to Angel stadium and acting like arrogant jerks. I understand many old time boston fans still get that clinching in their somach every season and maintain their humility, but the so-called Red Sox nation is full of bandwagon jumpers now who just like winners and they are ASSES. I never thought I'd see the day that I would cheer a Yankee fan until the playoffs this year at Angel Stadium when the lone Yankee fan stood up with a shirt on that said BEAT BOSTON. That day Angel and Yankee fans all over the country were kindred spirits for the first time in history....

Alright, let's take a look at this lis from this past April:

The Business Of Baseball - Forbes.com

Then let's think of this: Texeira pushes the Yankees investment over 420 million now which means that their investment, alone, is worth more than a total of 15 teams in the league . . . and people still think what they are doing is right?

And yes, I know, right or wrong, there are no legalities right now set up in baseball but still, morally this is not helping the game!

Funny....how some like Jimbo...didn't think I was either wrong or right for that matter and agreed with what I originally said....

...oh well....have a merry Christmas!:up

And to prove my point salsa - YOU BEGAN the turning of this thread from what the Yankee TEAM did to putting down Yankee FANS in post 74 - until then the conversation was about the team.

But I have come to expect this of you.

OVER and OUT!

My point has been about the team from the beginning.....They have dished out a ton of money, almost a half a billion dollars...and like now even more so, they expect to win the World Series with the product they have paid for.
Non-Yankee lovers almost expect the same....but are they ASSURED this? NO, of course not....what they expect...is what we are TRYING to discuss.

I have yet to dis any Yankee fan....unless your feelings are hurt by trying to come up with the difference of "expect" and "assurred"....

AND HERE IS THE LATEST SPIN ON THIS ARGUMENT:

The Mets outlasted everyone last year by sitting idly by and watching everyone fight over Johan; dust settled and lo and behold he slipped on a Mets uniform for what the Mets wanted to pay not what the market dictated

Why do I bring that up . . . it now looks like the Mets will be signing Lowe for 3 yrs / 45 million . . . a drop in the bucket considering what he may have once gotten and again, Mets are paying what they want . . . and look at this NY Times article about how Mets should be thanking the Yankees signing of Texiera . . . lol . . . that is some O'Reily spinning . . . lmao

You think YOU could hurt my feelings with your uneducated posts? NOT. But when you get an off moment, read back in the threads all the digs you have made on Yankee fans. If you still can't find them I will be happy to list them over the weekend.

You're getting all tied up in semantics. Expect/assured...jeez, stop arguing about words. You have no idea what Yankees fans are feeling, since you aren't one.

And typing in caps like you're yelling does nothing to prove your point, Stephen A.
