Dish Launches Big 10 Network

I checked my guide after reading the press release linked in Juan's post. 9467, which, according to the release will be showing the Iowa/Syracuse game in HD Saturday night, lists Perfume and Freedom Writers as PPV at that time. I'm leaving for the weekend tomorrow night. How can I set my DVR to record the game if the guide isn't updated before I leave?

I forced a guide update with a check switch, and the Saturday games show up in the guide for 439 and the other SD alternates, but not 9467. Any ideas?

I'm really glad to get the BTN.

However I think the long-term plan is a worst-case scenario for those living outside of the B10 states.

Subs living in a B10 state, will be getting a channel that may cost E* as much as $1.10/month/sub for free.

Subs living outside of the B10, will have to pay $5/month to buy a sports tier in order to get a channel that E* is paying about $0.10/month/sub.

my idea is if they announced it, it will be there eventually, DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

True enough, but since I won't be home Saturday, I'd like to set the DVR ASAP. It won't be the end of the world if I have to record the SD on 439 (especially since I wasn't going to be able to see the game at all until today's most pleasant surprise), but of course I'd rather get the HD version. Thanks for the suggestion ;).

There will be other conference sports nets in the future which presumably will end up in the same boat.

And you don't have to buy it year round if you don't want to. It would be worth the $5 fee to cancel even just for the summer.

hopefully this shuts down espn gameplan and we can get all the major conferences out-of-market on the sportspak for 5.99 a month.

I just wish the picture wasn't crushed to SD-Lite bit-rate and resolution! It may take a while to get the channel tuned.

I'm glad that Dish picked this up, but as some other people have mentioned, there will be hell to pay come February. Good thing I'm locked-in with the DVR Advantage.

And just in time to watch Michigan go down to Appalachian State. Heh-heh-heh...

Ahhhh hate to break it to you but ESPN Gameplan offers all the regional games that are not offered on your local ABC affiliate. Additionally there are games from Comcast Sportsnet, JP Sports etc.

I don't see Gameplan / Full Court going anywhere soon.

Did I understand that right?

If so, I cannot believe they added this channel to the AT100 package. In any event, it's nearly midnight and I'll just have to go to work tired (and bragging to everybody with cable) tomorrow morning because they are about to show the replay of the App State - Michigan game (which we all know was better than tonight's Saints-Colts game).

This is the worst news. Waste of bandwith in my opinion.

Why give one of the worst conferences and most over-rated its own station?

It's been proven time and time again...in 2006 Ohio State thinks they are hot for beating Michigan by a small margin only to get swamped by the Gators. Then last week, Michigan gets beat by a I-AA football team. These are the Big Tens top contenders. Over-rated every season.

Ohio State and Michigan are over-rated time and time again...they need to get over themselves and start playing football at the skill level they see themselves in.

Again...waste of bandwidth...give me TBS HD or anything HD...not this!!! blah

I, along with probably everyone else, greatly appreciate this detail. :)

It's a little unsettling that they specifically mention AT100 customers...

don't worry, we AT100 customers will pay for it in 2008 when our AT100 package charges increase by a few bucks.

the package price increase in 2008 better be more for Big 10 states than for me (not a big 10 state) or else insert the mtn. in my package for the same price increase that everyone else is getting in 2008 for AT100.

Relax more HD coming next week, CNN, CN, and by the way E* press release hinted even maybe 5-10 more :) (oh plus the 9 or 12 HD PPV channels)

So will we get the additional HD games at the same time, just share the bandwith with the new HD PPV channels also :hungry: ?

I was thinking the same thing roach. They could put up the 24/7 simulcast next week and use the HD PPV feeds for the HD overflow games when necessary.
