EchoStar: We Have 48 National HD Channels

I agree they do not have enough room to be on the even footing with D* now, but they can add more if they want to, the fact they are not, indicates to me they don't see the urgency yet.

You are the first new sub I read that got a free HDDVR upon request. I have called D* several times and asked the same, even told them I am an E* sub and have free HDDVRs from E*, would like to know if D* can offer a similar deal for me to switch, no luck so far.

Not enough to be on equal footing and MAYBEEEEEE room for one or two more. I could be proven wrong, but again i get back to them taking down a HD PPV to add TBS. No logic in that.

Ive read alot about new ones getting it in threads here and at DBS.

I for one, would be more than happy to give up HD gems like

Kung Fu - HD
and
Gallery - HD

for some more mainstream HD like the ones already mentioned in these threads.

Quantity doesn't make up for quality!

I'm not a Kung Fu fan (but I know they're out there). If you want program quality, it's on Gallery. Don't take away "Art of the Heist", "Gallery Tours" and "Private Life of a Masterpiece". Those are as good as anything on Discovery.

Obviously someone can't count. The list has 41 channels on it not 38. Add in the other 7 HD PPV not listed and you get to 48 national HD channels.:D

You know you're right. I am surprised that D* hasn't signed a deal to carry Gallery-HD on one of their 150 national HD channels.

So, can we take Gallery-HD off the list of channels to trade for something more substantial like Smithsonian-HD and maybe trade animania-HD instead?

Watching Fox NFL Sunday, keep seeing the Direct TV Commercial bragging about being the HD Leader over cable and DISH NETWORK.....wonder if they are NOW telling the truth???
they now have 70 NATIONAL HD Channels?

No - they don't have 70 national channels...................YET. I'm thinking that commercial aired a week too early. Oh well.

But I will tell you this, and I know for a fact. You will be seeing LOTS of DirecTV HD commercials in the upcoming months. This is the PEAK television buying season - now thru Super Bowl. They are going to be ALL OVER IT.

Well, there is something called truth in advertising. If they don't currently have 70 channels, then the ad is more misleading than truthful and maybe some watchdog group should call them on it.

Go for it - while you're at it - tell them about the car ads also will you? I'm tired of all the misleading stuff on them as well. And cable ads also, I am tired of their bogus reliability claims. Besides, if anybody orders DirecTV from those ads, by the time they get their stuff the ads will be TRUE. Like by Wednesday.

Yeah it might have got out early.
yes again that it will be true soon. and we ARE going to see alot more of it in the next few months.
Watchdog groups getting n on it would be a waste of time, and they probably know it

They removed the HD PPV to get the channel up quicker. It required only downlink testing and no uplink testing this way. They just flipped a few switches and there it is.
