HD Channel List: Dish Network vs DirectTV

This is not true - the example where a DirecTV customer gets all of the movie channels would ALSO get the Sports Pack - this is the Premier package. I get OVER 60 HD channels myself.

A Premier package customer with HD locals would get the following HD channels:
1) A&E
2) Animal Planet
3) Discovery
4) HD Theatre
5) Food
6) HDNet
7) HGTV
8) History
9) MHD
10) National Geographic
11) Science
12) TBS
13) TLC
14) TNT
15) Universal
16) Bravo
17) Cartoon Network
18) FX
19) MGM
20) SciFi
21) Smithsonian
22) USA
23) CNN
24) CNBC
25) Fox Business
26) The Weather Channel
27) HDNet Movies
28) Cinemax East
29) HBO East
30) Showtime East
31) Starz East
32) Cinemax West
33) HBO West
34) Movie Channel
35) SHO Too
36) Showtime West
37) Starz Comedy
38) Starz Edge
39) Starz Kids and Family
40) Starz West
41) Big 10
42) CSN Chicago
43) CSN Mid-atlantic
44) ESPN
45) ESPN2
46) FSN Detriot
47) FSN Midwest (part-time)
48) FSN Pittsburgh (part-time)
49) FSN Prime Ticket
50) FSN Southwest
51) FSN West
52) SNY
53) VS/Golf
54) Fuel
55) NESN
56) Speed
57) YES
58) Local ABC
59) Local CBS
60) Local Fox
61) Local NBC

I don't get the movie channels - so I get 48 (I do get SportsPack)

Exactly how are we counting here?

All of these lists omit several HD RSNs that are available on D*. Do they not count because they're on spotbeams? Unless you're a "mover" I don't really see a huge distinction in HD RSN availability between the services.

Anyway we could get this thread to be a sticky
-or-
have a link posted on this site with the location of the list?

Hopefully it will be kept up as new HD Channels become available.

BTW - It would be nice to keep a link posted to the Excel file that is available for download each time it is updated.

I'm updating the first post to contain dfergie's color coded version right now. Updates to the first post of this thread will be on-going. All versions of my Excel files will be available in the first post.

I'll stick this thread right now.

All versions of my Excel files will be available in the first post.

Thanks.........

"Dish Network vs DirectTV: HD Channel List (Excel File)"
This link in your first post actually goes to a PDF.

but I was able to get to the excel file from your site...

(I'm blocked from Google Docs due to our corporate firewall)

Thanks for the note Jeff. Fixed.

The color coded dfergie version is now up. Download either version in pdf or excel formats.

Someone with DirectTV needs to go thru HD sports and confirm color codes. I'm on 61.5 and watch zero sports so the same goes for Dish.

UPDATE: 10-26-2007: NHL added and SNY changed to full-time with upconvert for D* (Thanks Hemi)

Here's what I found for D* that I currently have for RSN HD. This is Full time RSN.
YESHD
NESN HD
SNY HD
COMCAST MID ATLANTIC
COMCAST CHICAGO
FSN DETROIT
FSN WEST
FSN PRIME TICKET
Now the part time Rsns for games only are :
FSN MID WEST
FSN PITTSBURGH.
For NFL Pack there are 8 channels in HD
For NHL pack there are 13 channels in HD
and NBA pack has 12 Channels in HD.

And Big Ten Network in HD is a FULL Time channel, Not just for games!

Some of these are regional... We will have to designate them as such in our lists... (works in progress) Thanks:)

Ok...though I have never heard of Altitude. I guess I am just curious if I am supposed to be receiving these channels in WI (I get Milwaukee locals if that helps). My sats are 61.5, 110, 119 and 121.

Thanks for the lists! I just want to make sure I'm getting all the HD I am entitled too! (sure wish I could get my locals in HD as their original list showed 2006) Like that ever happend and is a complete different subject...LOL
