I live in a small town, Wal-Mart had 14 players. Sold all within 10 minutes. I showed up around 8:15 and they were all gone.

I thought this was supposed to be a "Secret" Sale? I saw the sale flyer posted at the entrance... Not so secret to me.
8 here, I bought one (and The Last Samurai)and waited till my Car pool buddy showed up and showed him which Cables(Hdmi) to get to hook it up to his year old 37" Panasonic still hooked to SD... so that left 6... 1 per customer... no limit on the laptops.
They were advertising on network TV last night - mentioned the HDDVD without pricing, and had the Acer laptop with price $349.
The only secret is to DVR owners that skip comercials and the fact that it wasn't in the newspaper
I had to go to 2 different stores.......
The first only had the display left and then wanted to sell it to me at full price with no box or remote, because dumb ass stock boy lost it.......I of course told them they were crazy, not only am I not paying full price I'm not buying one without a remote.....
I ended up getting one where all the IAs shop, the one I "knew" would be out of stock because they are always busy no matter the time of day or night that lot is full of cars.....Anyway they were smart and hid them behind the counter in the Photo Dept. and you had to specifically ask for one. Since most of their customer base speaks no English they had like 7-8 of them left....

id say there were about 15 hd dvd players at the wal mart here i grand blanc and about 75-100 laptops. most were there to buy laptops which were limited to 1 per person. the dvd players were up for grabs which confused me. went back at 10 and the laptops and dvd players were all gone.

Picked Up 2!
Showed up at the closer of the two local Wal-Marts here at 7:05. I was third in line. They said that they weren't going to start selling them until 8:00. But as the line grew to about 10 people at around 7:30, they started selling them. I picked up two. Hadn't made the move to hi-def DVDs yet; but at this price, I couldn't wait any longer.

I got 1 at the Crutchfield Store in Charlottesville, VA for $99 yesterday. So there MAY still be hope if you live in or near Charlottesville.
I hit 2 Wal Marts this morning...the first sold out at 8:10 and the second I got the last 2 of 40.
Gone from Crutchfield. I just pulled the trigger and bought it at CC for $129.99 and will have to wait for it since it will be shipped.
Completely sold out out our Walmarts. Wasn't going to get one since I already have 1 from each generation. I just wanted to see how they were doing. This is good.

That's interesting, since it wasn't on CC's website earlier. They must have gotten or agreed to get another shipment.
After being #11 in line this morning at a store that had then and then calling 4 others during the day, I finally found a Wal-Mart in the boonies that had three left and got mine, so I am now officially purple.
